“Well I had zero until the Maine trip. Now I gots myseff a mere 4. (and they wuzz in bunkhouses!)”

“35...I've been sleeping out back of my house. By years end I should have @235. I get to count these as bag nights because I now hike to work with my pack, tent and sleeping bag, and then I hike home to re-set up my tent and stuff. I sometimes even cook my dinner on my tincan stove, but not always...I sometimes go in the house and watch tv and eat dinner...that the beauty of camping in the side yard.”

We're "carcamping" on our snowboarding weekends. I even forgot my bag one weekend and slept in my Patagonia clothes!

I won't be backpacking til June, but hope to get 60-65 days in.

“Only two so far and they were COLD ones! But, they were high-quality; Yellowstone Park, coyotes howling, stars blazing, zero degrees, deep snow and thermal steam rising nearby. It was so cold that I crawled in the bag at 7:45 pm and didn't stick my head out for almost 12 hours!”

“OK, on miles i'm not so depressed. me & the baby have logged at least 60 miles so far - we do a lot of the same loops, so it's hard to keep track of how many times. if my mom will babysit, we're tackling a 17-mile dayhike this Saturday! woo-hoo!”

“A word on my bag nights....its my job. I actually envy those of you that do it for fun. I'm not saying I don't appreciate my job, I have the best office in town, but counting my bag nights against someone like SnowNymph and CMB just isn't the same.

I don't think anyone see's this as competition, you can't judge someones passion by numbers, you judge it by their attitude. There are folks here that only get out a few times a year, but they may very well be the most dedicated backpackers on this site.

That said, SnowNymph and CMB are in a league by them selves.

Good point! I had never considered that all the times I forgot to turn off my automatic sprinklers might actually be good backpacking experience!

Of course, my neighbors never look at me as passionate about backpacking. They actually just kind of try not to look nervous.

“We should have a Trail Talk "Bag Out Night". Designate one night sometime and everyone on the board has to sleep out wherever they live. Make it like mid-week sometime in June. People could drag their laptops outside and post from their tents.”
