The east coast exist in backpacker mag??? “Well after time and time again reading bpmag and never seeing NJ talked about I gave up on the east coast. I've recently looked through past issues of BP and seen Harriman and the Cats listed, but this issue gave us alittle more credit. From pages 32 - 40 backpacker consistintly list arizona, alaska, california, and washington was NH's whites and NY's catskilles. The first catagorie on page 32 is "toughest day hike" and that was awarded to devils path, in the catskills. 26 miles, 7 peaks, and 18,000 feet elebation gain and loss all in one day. Next is steepest trail, huntington ravine trail, Mt. Washington. 650 feet gain in .3 mile. I don't point this out just because this is the first issue the east coast existed in backpackers mag, but we've got some hiking to do. Any one up for it?” 10:31:04 PM 3/08/03 “I wouldnt want them clogging up our trails. Camera crews and yuppie wannabes, who needs em?” 2:46:20 AM 3/09/03 “You can do it, doesn't sound that bad. http://www.connarch.com/miscellaneous/devils_path_and_burroughs_range.htm” 11:37:29 PM 4/21/03 “Corp and I were just talking about doing this! You can count me in!” 7:00:08 AM 4/22/03 “I was just wondering if Ashokan had a connection to the song "Ashokan Farewell," that ubiquitous tune from Ken Burn's Civil War epic. Not only that, but wasn't 'Bearsville' Todd Rundgren's record company? And what about "The Hermit of Mink Hollow"? <G>” 7:32:56 AM 4/22/03
