Do you ever hike with other people?
I saw this post on the "other" site asking "Do you guys ever hike together?"

I couldn't resist... I posted our "Trips" page link, and talked about how I'd just come back froma GREAT weekend with other TT'rs.

It's sad to say, but that site really is pretty lame in many respects...I'm not casting any negatives toward any people who post there, just the site itself.

Thanks, Matt.

LMAO. I saw that too and couldn't help but think the same thing.

Hey wanderer- did you see the pics I posted on the report?

I did, I did see the pics
Thanks Free, nice pics!!! and they didn't even show me in any compromising situations that will cost me $$.... I will drive your on ANY trip!!

Anyway...that is a pretty sad site. I conted 31 trips that are on "our" trips page, they don't even have one.

And they wonder why we are what we are & say what we say...poor things.

LOL Yeah I'm saving that sausage picture for an emergency *evil laugh*

I think perhaps since most don't know each other on that sight they might be nurvous about meeting up with strangers. I went on our trip because you guys have been around a while and are known by some of the others :)

WHAT sausage picture?????
Everyone please ignore Free's comments about sausages, she's delirious.

Anyway, Free you have a very good point about nobody really knowing anybody, I just realized this weekend why it might be important for me to post a pic on Phil's site, as an example. I've been posting here for a couple years, have met a number of TT'rs, but if you're a "relative" newbie you might easily conclude that I'm just a stalker-type pervert person. Posting a pic makes a comment, I guess I just never thought about it before.

There was a group of folks who posted there who still hike together, but many of them drifted off to other sites while Backpacker was having its technical difficulties a couple of years ago.

Most of them still post at OAN.

OAN?
I thought OAN was dead? I occasionally drifted over there myself a couple years ago, but I didn't think it was currently active???

I believe the phrase is 'still kicking, but not high', <G>

Barely kicking. I read it once a week or so, and there is rarely anything new or interesting.

There are quite a few people from the NW on the other site who get together. I think the contributers in the women's forum get together on a few trips as well. I suspect group trips are not unusual or unique for most hiking boards. They are just more humble about it and don't feel the need to beat their chests.

Before I found TT (shudder!) I started on backpacker.com and met my first axe murderer internet stalkers net buddies as a result. My very first hike with them was an awesome walk in the Catskills.

It has gone through a lot of changes over the years...I wandered away to lots of other places (Lifeonthetrail.com, VFTT, OAN, etc) before I settled down here. It is cool to see some people who have traveled similar paths too. Ya gotta shop around, ya know!

Anyhoo, TT rules. I love you guys...especially Matt.
