A Virtual Illusion
OK, so I pull into a parking space at the local Credit Union and slowly creep up to the parking block and stop. I start to endorse my paycheck when I noticed my vehicle was moving forward and in a panic I hit the brakes as hard as I could with my foot, grabbed the steering wheel and parking/drive stick with my hands, and even though it showed I was in park I was still moving forward. Then, out of the corner of my eye I see the lady beside be backing out of the adjacent parking space, and it turns out I must've seen her backing up and somehow thought instead that I was moving forward. Well, my heart was pumping adrenaline like mad after that...It was truely freaky!

Buddur - That has happened to me, too. Except the cars on each side were backing out. I seriously thought I was about to crash.

I feel your pain!! lol

Whats fun is to wake your passengers up by slamming on the brakes and screaming! :D

Buddur you're such a virgin driver, I've had that happen to me lots of times. The worst is when I'm drowsy and the sun is shining in my eye, and the car beside me just rolls backward abit....it really wakes me up. :o)

That's happened to me a few times also. It's kind of like waking up from a nightmare and you come back to reality and you're quite relieved. Especially those nightmares where naked midgets are trying to rip out your toenails.

I had that happen the first time i was learing to drive a stick. A truck next to me started to pull forward and i immediatly felt like i was rolling backwards.

I was stopped at a stoplight a few weeks back and was looking down for some reason or other when I suddenly realized I was rolling forward toward the Semi in front of me. I slammed harder on my brake and pushed myself backwards into my seatback. When I realized that I wasn't rolling forward i relaxed. Then it dawned on me that the semi was backing up. I barely had time to panic and scream like a school girl before the truck started rolling forward again.

Wheeeewww

I've had it happen tons too!..but the best thing to do is when your on the interstate with a buddy that falls asleep...is spending the next hour trying to find a tow-truck pulling a semi...this is paramount..for when you find one..you pull in behind it..scream, slap your buddy in the chest/head and sharp tap the brakes all at the same time!!! *grins*

I was in a huge rush once & nervous 'bout bein' late, when I got hit with a red light, immediately stuck a cig in my mouth & pushed in the lighter.

Now I'm waitin' for the light & waitin' for the ligher, waitin for the light & waitin' for the lighter...the lighter pops out and I put the gas pedal to the floor!

Damn near got killed that day!

I used to forget to put my feet down when stopping for a light while riding a motorcycle.

Never quite dropped it though!

I learned to drive on 5-speeds...all i drove were stick shifts.

Do you know how fast an automatic ford explorer stops when you try to press the brake to the floor thinking it's the clutch?

Tom a guy in front of me at a light did that. He just sort of fell over. The funniest part was that he couldn't get the bike back upright. I had to get out and help, of course that made him even more embarresed.
Still makes me laugh...

Some funny stories, folks... "The lighter pops out and I put the gas pedal to the floor." lol! I've been there. Thank goodness I quit smoking!

Never did the brake/clutch thing, but remember getting into my dad's new car, ages ago before power brakes were standard, my car didn't have power brakes--talk about kissing the windshield! My nose still hurts when I think about it! LOL!
