on my wrist
While laying in the sun Sunday I was stung by "something" of "some sort". Possibly a bee. It hurt like HECK Sunday..was fine Monday but starting yesterday my wrist began to swell and itch like the dickens...I have applied hydrocortizone and taken a Benadryl. It looks awful...but I'm feeling nothing right now!! I will be knocked out soon and curled up under my desk shortly.

ANYWAY...any home remedies anyone care to suggest for bites and stings? That time of year is approaching!

If it's that bad, you should get it checked out. You could be having a bad reaction, and it could get serious.

just a thought, when I was a little girl and I got stung by a bee, my mother would put ice on it. so when she went to find the stinger it didnt hurt as bad.
maybe try that...

Pee on a bee sting? How do you think anyone could have come up with such an idea. " Gee Bob, I see you got a bee sting, hold it out there and I will pee on it" That is some strong friendship to let someone pee on you.

tried and tested... works great for stings.. of all kinds...I mean bugs.... anyhou as soon as possiable remove the stinger if it is already gone than proceed to step 2.. moisten an asprin and put it on the center of the sting place a band-aid directly over it and leave it for at least 4 hours.. works like a charm.. and im alergic to bee stings. We tried this last summer when my mom got stung and she had no symptoms or swelling..just a little bit of itching..

Little known fact
if you get stung by a jellyfish, peeing on it will ease the pain!

I wasn't kidding...
it really spose to work. Never tried it myself, I prefer benadryl, but hey.... you never know. It's an old old receipe.

Can't belive you did not hear of it. Try it!!

Is it one of those German remedies? I have heard about the jelly fish sting though...in fact they did that on one of the Survivor shows.

Thanks mouse...sounds like a plan..better than getting my partner to pee on me!

If you're stung by a jellyfish, don't have to pee right then, and you happen to be making a salad at the time, just slosh a little vinegar on it.

In the spring and summer you can rub the crushed tips of dog fennel plants on the sting and it will immediately feel better. (Learned from an old Native American.)

This is non-PC, but a little bit of moistened tobacco will also take the sting out.

Crushed mint leaves also work really well on stings. Also on fire ant bites.
