Best friend on Fox news tonite

“Tonite 4-5pm EST on Fox news cable channel my best friend of 24 years will be on Neil Cavutto's program discussing the 82nd Airbornes mission in Afghanisthan. His name is Staff Sargeant (Paul) Johnson. He will be on with a guy from the 10th Mtn Div, and a Special Forces soldier. The coolest part was that he was hand picked to go and represent the 82n.”

“wow, that is kewl birch! We saw an interesting piece on 60 minutes (I think)last night. They were talking about deaths by "friendly fire" during the gulf war and others...and were talking about all of the latest technology and measures to protect soldiers better.

It was heartwrenching to watch at one point, when they showed a guy zeroing in on his target and he pauses for a moment, asks "are you sure that's not friendly?" over the radio and his commanding officer says to just do it. So, he fires...
seconds later, they show 2 soldiers stagger away and it is clear that they are indeed Americans. I think 6 were killed in that shot.

I saw the piece on friendly fire too. It was a reminder of the risks our troops take in war, both when they fire and when they expose themselves to fire. You have to feel for people on all sides of the friendly fire incidents.

Regardless of what we think about US policy on Iraq, I think we all have to admire, respect, support and care about the fine people who are ready to put it all on the line out there. Whether fighting the war is wise or foolhardy, the pride, integrity and professionalism shown will make the outcome better.”

One of the funniest things I think I've ever seen on TV news, (up there with the British anchor who messed up the words kent countryside) - was Brit Hume on Sunday. He criticized Helen Thomas as not being a real journalist any more as she was writing opinion pieces. Brit managed to do this while giving an opinion piece himself, while acting as a pundit giving his opinions on a show run by his own station.”
