Sassafras: Anti-war Human Shield ...View Messages“In 1980 I was motoring west on the Trans Can Hwy in Alberta into the foothills of the Rockys. I passed a wolf who was waiting to cross the highway.” 1:14:53 PM 3/13/03 “Hmmm (mind starts thinking and smoke wafts from ears) ... Maybe if I lived near an Army impact range the bean counters would let me alone ...” 1:19:52 PM 3/13/03 “Well, my sister just called and said she was fine and not to worry. She said she loves her new place and asked if any of you could recomend a good ear, nose, throat doctor in the area. Seems their hearing has been suffering lately.” 5:33:04 PM 3/13/03 “Here is a more indepth article on sassafras and her life on the range: http://www.timberwolfinformation.org/info/archieve/newspapers/viewnews.cfm?ID=438 Here is a related article on the positive impact of army bases and programs on wildlife: http://www.army.mil/soldiers/apr2000/features/ranges1.html I tried to post these earlier, but I couldn't get TT to open. Anyway, the gist of the first article is that the wildlife fella on the base knew there was a single male wolf on the range from the tracks they were seeing. But then the wolf dissappeareed for a season. then came back with a mate. the mate, sassafras, was found caught in a coyote trap. They looked her over, gave her brief first aide, put a tracking collar on her and sent her on her way. They were soon seing more than the two tracks and have collars on most of them so they know where they are on a weekly basis. Those are two good articles with a plethora of information.” 11:27:47 PM 3/13/03 “LMAO at wolfsister!” 7:51:31 AM 3/14/03
