Dang Storm!

“Well, our planned trip this weekend has to be postponed. I had planned to take Cameron on his first winter camping trip, in Yosemite starting from Badger Pass. The latest forecast is predicting up to 2 feet of snow along with high winds for Saturday during the day, with even more during the night. Will have to try again next weekend....”

We've been getting pounded, with wind & rain up here, from the same storm. Trees are down and power's out all over the place. They had 60 mph+ winds, at Whistler, and had to shut 'er down for safety.

Heavy snow / rain and avalanches, on all the major routes, are making a lot of news”

“I hear ya Marty. I was going to head up for a little snow camping, but I really don't want to deal with all the people who can't drive in the snow! Maybe I'll go next weekend, but this coming weekend was my only free one for along time.”

“Fortunately for us, it turned out that next weekend is pretty open, so postponing isn't a big deal. Beyond that is not good, though, as Little League games start....”

“Whew! Just made one final check of the Nat'l Weather Service - they post an updated forecast at about 3PM our time for Yosemite. Now the storm seems even more intense than previously forecast - up to 3 feet of snow on Saturday! - so it looks like this will indeed be the right decision. Can't wait 'till next weekend to play in the (fresher) snow!”

“Any other left coasters stuck inside today? The temps here in the eastern sierras are fine, but there are rain and thunder storms forecast for the whole day. Tomorrow is looking better, maybe an opportunity to get out then.”
