Woo Hoo - I bought a kayak! OK.... so it's not exactly in the water yet... the lakes are still frozen here in MI. But, here it is, floating on my living room floor.

And, just in case my pic doesn't work, here's the link

my baby

I'm so excited... Can you tell???

I know didly about kayaks (like, what's that black frisbee thingy?), but it looks pretty cool.

Can you use it as gear sled in winter? ;o)

Tilt - you are correct... I mentioned my new kayak :-) on another thread. But, I just got to take it home today, so I'm just as exicted as the day I bought it.

Oh Happy Day!

Dang! Meant to use 'bow' instead of 'prow' in one of those lines.

I'd admit to not being Longfellow, but that would only invite derisive comments by fellow TT'ers. Har! A pirates life fer me, ye scurvy curs!

It's about time you popped that thing out! Just like a baby, you had to wait to bring her home! By the way, your living room looks pretty organized there...congrats on the kayak...you will have a great time this summer!

LOL wolfeyes. I conveniently left the couch out of the picture. My RRG gear is still a disorganized mess all over the couch!

Dare - Not sure, yet, when the first overnight trip will be. Soon, I hope. But, we (Sass, Birch and any other Mich folk that ends up w/ a kayak) to test 'em out on my brother's lake as soon as the ice melts.

Hey Adventurist, I think you meant to say udder's and kegs!!!

How is the seat? Durable enough? Your subsurface echo pings should resonant in that prudy nicely. Poor fisheys!!!

Due to current events....
Tara, Sass and birch have taken it upon themselves to form the Marine division of the Michigan Mountaineers. Until I get a floatation device, I will countinue to perform the duties of logistical support, transportation to the PX, scouting and forward depolyment operations.

Walkindude - ummm, no!

Cap'n Bobo - Funny... I was just telling someone today that I couldn't have cared less what color it was. If the only one they had in stock was hot pink, then, Capn, I'd be paddling a hot pink yak!

Adventurist - So, Artex is an expert in rubbers and kegs? Good to know! (It has a rudder)

Briar - ROFLMAO!!

Q - you're role is crucial and very appreciated. But, don't forget that canoes and kayaks can be rented!

ltwt - It'll be ALOT of fun every Spring/Summer/Fall. :-)

If it doesn't quit raining here soon, I'M going to need a kayak.

I feel the need to explain why Adventurist said that. Over on paddling.net, I asked for opinions on a couple of different kayaks (the Carolina was one of them, BTW), and the thread quickly degenerated into a quipy debate about skegs and rudders, with a lot of sniviling and whining going on. It was rather amusing.
