How did it turn out, cry babies?” 6:43:35 AM 11/03/09 “how did it turn out for you crybabies the past 8 years.” 7:11:38 AM 11/03/09 “Take a look around...Pretty crappy.” 7:24:18 AM 11/03/09 “so you have a constitutional right to not be crappy?” 7:26:14 AM 11/03/09 “Yup, "the liberals" were not crying "wolf" during the Dumbya years. That was an actual disaster and not some fantasy about a "communist take-over" like we are hearing now. Dumbya and Company #&%!$ed America.........butt good. Now we will see what the silly libbies can do to fix whut dey fuct.” 7:31:11 AM 11/03/09 “I thought we were talking about loss of constitutional freedoms. You screamed about those, yet you haven't lost any. BTW, the country was better before the democrats won the congress.” 7:35:35 AM 11/03/09 “so you have a constitutional right to not be crappy? Sez who? BTW, the country was better before the democrats won the congress. Sez you.” 7:41:03 AM 11/03/09 “rosey says that. We were talking about loss of constitutional rights and he comments on the current mess.” 7:46:39 AM 11/03/09 “Lessee: Patriot Act: Bush. We all know this one. First signed in 2001 and then again in 2006, BOTH BEFORE THE DEMOCRATIC CONGRESSIONAL MAJORITY. The act allows indefinite detention of immigrants and non-citizens, allows law enforcement to search a home or business without the owner's permission or knowledge, permits unlimited use of National Security Letters (NSL) to access personal records without any oversight process, and allows law enforcement to review hitherto protected government and commercial records to include library withdrawals and book purchases. To top it off, Bush issued one his famous "signing statements" with the 2006 continuation saying he wouldn't be bound by the guidelines layed out in the law. Nice. Then we have the 2006 Military Commission Act, again note that this is before the much maligned Democratic takeover, which created military tribunals for the trying of "unlawful enemy combatants." Unlike a civil or criminal court, the accused needs only a two-thirds vote by the commission members present to be convicted. The act permits the indefinite jailing of suspects in a military prison without providing access to a lawyer or charging with a crime. The government is not required to produce any normally admissible evidence at a commission hearing and can rely on hearsay or even on information obtained overseas during torture to make its case. Detainees do not have access to any classified information being used against them and cannot cross examine or even know the identity of witnesses. The MCA suspends habeas corpus for anyone charged and forbids the application of the Geneva Conventions to mitigate conditions of confinement or to challenge the judicial process or verdict. The Geneva Conventions also cannot be invoked if the accused subsequently claims he was tortured or otherwise abused, protecting overly zealous interrogators from later charges of "war crimes." Then there is the the NSA warrantless surveillance program, which began in September 2001 as a secret program dubbed the Terrorist Surveillance Program and was later authorized with some caveats by a law passed by Congress in August 2007. So, yeah, I'd say Bush and the Republican dominated Congress has done a rather impressive job at erroding our RIGHTS. And to be fair: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/philip-giraldi/bipartisan-war-against-th_b_64747.html?view=print last edited: 11/03/09 8:31:19 AM” 8:28:56 AM 11/03/09 “you you're not concerned Obama is extending it?” 8:46:35 AM 11/03/09 “Actually, I am. I've been disappointed in that, the keeping of the visitor sign-in book to the White House a secret, among other issues. However, the train, unequivocally, got rolling with Herr Bush.” 9:03:45 AM 11/03/09 “Yup, me too.” 9:05:21 AM 11/03/09 “I was expecting a but, but all I got was a however.” 9:10:56 AM 11/03/09 “How about a giddy-yap?” 9:12:19 AM 11/03/09 “I think it's time we put Bush behind us and instead focus on getting the country on track and hold the President accountable when he does these things we so deeply despise. Obama has been hanging the inherited bush bandwagon for so long I'm wondering if he is ever going to take responsibility for anything. You guys do insist on the president owning his job, right? I think we talked about this over the last 8 years. Surely things haven't changed.” 9:13:21 AM 11/03/09 “So now you're up in arms over it? Hahaha. Sucker.” 9:18:04 AM 11/03/09 “again, I never see you concerned about the present - only the Bush era and the previously Bush supporters. Why is that? What are you bringing to the solution table?” 9:20:55 AM 11/03/09 “Let's hear from the horses mouth, HPD. What is YOUR solution since apparently, seven years past the fact, you're suddenly concerned about your eroding rights. What exactly does that solution look like, a day late and a dollar short?” 9:22:33 AM 11/03/09 “I'll put it this way roseymonster (and others) ... I never supported Bush 100%. If you search the thread headers, you'll see at least one thread by me criticizing Bush. I never supported his immigration views, even before he was elected. I never supported his inability to lower taxes over the years by making cuts (we disagree on what should be cut, but nevertheless) -- But I did support him in that I believed the alternatives would be absolutely devastating to our national security. That said - we have rebuilt much of what I believe (IMO) was destroyed during the Clinton years re: our military intelligence. We have reintroduced ourselves into the middle east at an unprecedented level as a major component of that. I don't believe that that renewed skill-set will be easily removed by a sitting president in the near future. That said - I have also come to realize, over the last 3 years, that the fundamental rights of the citizens, as envisioned by the founding fathers, has been all but completely lost. I have come to realize that we are in fact moving towards a world dictatorship, loosely, a new Rome, if you will. I personally believe that we are heading down a path to slavery - where 99% of the world's population is slave to a very elite few. Those rulers may not have been born yet, but the template is there. We MUST realize, whether we are Democratic, Republican, Independent, or whatever, that the parties have not served us well. The Democrats have not provided any of the freedoms they have promised minorities, the Republicans have not provided any of the freedoms they have promised the middle class. It is time that we call ALL injustices for what they are - devoid ourselves of a "party affiliation". THAT IS WHAT IS HOLDING US BACK. THAT IS WHAT IS CAUSING OUR ARGUMENTS. It's the classic experiment all over again - the blue eyed versus the brown eyed. Us verses them. By holding on to our party affiliations, by pointing the finger saying you did it first, or two wrongs make a right - we are then UNABLE to point at "our man/woman" in office and call them out. NONE OF THEM are ours. WE ARE ON NOBODY'S TEAM. We must embrace that. It is time we called a spade a spade and ignore the parties. I renounced by Republican membership years ago and have no desire to return. I am an Independent. I side closely with libertarians on most issues, but will not become one of them. No more teams. THIS is the solution to our fighting. THIS is the solution to resolving our problems. last edited: 11/03/09 9:36:27 AM” 9:33:54 AM 11/03/09 “ps - I was writing that while you posted your question, so I didn't see it. Hopefully that answers it satisfactorily.” 9:37:48 AM 11/03/09 “Nothing but a complete progressive/socialist takeover will satisfy rosey and company” 9:49:34 AM 11/03/09 “stratd00d - I am not so sure. For the first time, roseymonster gave an indication that that may not be the case. Actually, I am. I've been disappointed in that, the keeping of the visitor sign-in book to the White House a secret, among other issues. I think he has perhaps fallen into the same trap that I had fallen into. One where it was "my team" versus "them". Perhaps he has been overly supporting a team versus an ideal. It sounds like he may be opening up to changing that. Let's not further divide by suggesting he will stick to a specific team. He just suggested he sees fault in them. Maybe we can side with one another and discuss issues instead of teams.” 9:55:36 AM 11/03/09 “I have no problem with any of those "loss rights" rosey posted and don't feel like I have lost anything. As a matter of fact I feel like they have strengthened my right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” 9:58:56 AM 11/03/09 “I think there are very few people here who are entrenched that in the Ds and the Rs and refuse to question them. In fact I can only think of one, maybe two. I don't think the others believe what they write. (trolling)” 10:02:04 AM 11/03/09 “My post wasn't a solution for trailtalk. It was a solution for the country.” 10:03:45 AM 11/03/09 “Actually, I am. I've been disappointed in that - rosey Bravo! That's a lot more than tilt and violin will ever be able to admit.” 10:03:52 AM 11/03/09 “No more teams. - HPD You're probably right, but like Ron Paul's foreign policy theories, unrealistic.” 10:05:49 AM 11/03/09 “I don't think it's unrealistic. The conservatives are in an exodus right now from the Republicans. They are bringing more with them through word of mouth. The movement has begun. 10 years ago, I would have agreed with you.” 10:07:02 AM 11/03/09 “I think its going to be the other way. The conservatives will reclaim the republican party. There is no where else to go. The libertarians have too many divided loyalties and have to many crackpots. They will never form a powerful cohesive party. They will just be spoilers.” 10:25:13 AM 11/03/09 “It's gonna be another decade before the Republicans pull it together again and the American public gets over the bitter taste from the numerous catastrophes they left behind during their reign. I'll be enjoying every minute of it.” 10:27:28 AM 11/03/09 “ ”10:31:13 AM 11/03/09 “http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5i4WnzYTsD7ifZ48sPrrs2kEknyRwD9BTEL200 CNN s audience is more heavily Democratic than Fox News audience is Republican. Bonus: Fox News also attracts a higher percentage of Democratic viewers than CNN does Republicans” 9:12:06 AM 11/12/09 “i dont recall anyone complaining about audience bias when it came to fox news. reporter and other talking heads, yes. not the audience” 9:16:34 AM 11/12/09 “Bias is a much bigger problem in deciding what stories to cover than it is in the actual reporting of the story. That is why FOX is becoming the news source for America. FOX may try to spin a story that is unfavorable to republicans/conservatives, but at least they will cover it. With CNN you are never really sure if you are getting the full story or just what they want you to know.” 9:40:48 AM 11/12/09 “I concur” 9:43:05 AM 11/12/09 “Heard a new one the other day --- "Pox News"” 9:53:05 AM 11/12/09 “LOL!!” 9:55:48 AM 11/12/09 “Fox News is a chain of cowboy movies with neither cattle nor hats.” 10:07:52 AM 11/12/09 “"With CNN you are never really sure if you are getting the full story or just what they want you to know.” -Hyway Oh, I think we know.” 10:10:09 AM 11/12/09 “Hahahaha. Fox news makes stuff up! It LIES to viewers. But I guess you guys are good with that. And SURROUNDED by liars... http://rawstory.com/2009/11/hannity-falsifies-footage-gop-protest-bigger/” 10:11:56 AM 11/12/09 “hannity is a commentator not a news reporter.” 10:19:03 AM 11/12/09 “Looks to me like some of you could use a hug today. Who wants to meet me on a backpacking thread to talk about how much we love backpacking?” 10:26:22 AM 11/12/09 “How about you send me $50 instead?” 10:35:13 AM 11/12/09 10:57:49 AM 11/12/09 “No $50 but I will send you a nice big hug!” 11:18:41 AM 11/12/09 “This aint heaven, this aint hell, it is TT, enjoy the smell.” 12:17:38 PM 11/12/09 Jump to Page << prev
