last minute change! Help

“In two weeks I need to find a campground down in Tenn. or Va.
close to the AT, plan to use it as a base camp and day hike.
got two kids to introduce to AT hiking. would like to be able to hit some of the "sites", McAfee Knob, NE Smokies, Tinkers Cliffs
Don't need all amenities, Cheap! pop up camper Please send
any reccomendations?”

“I slept in my truck before at a trailhead once at Davenport Gap.
I Got there too late.”

“Cosby Campground in the Smokies allows popups, and is on the Tenn. side, pretty close to I-40. I'm not sure when it opens, though.”

“I don't think the smokies open untill May15th, let me know if I'm wrong”

“We (my wife & I) section hiked in this area last year, we passed by a campground north of "Uncle Johnnies" Hostel.
They had a campground, rafting & Cabins we don't remember the name though anyone know what it is or how to contact them or if their even open yet?”

“TD- Some of the Campgrounds are seasonal. Elkmont Campground on the Tenn. side just opened last week. I believe Cosby is still closed.”
