she tried to drive into NYC from NJ. she had to trun around becasue the traffic was sooo bad!
we just found out why.

5 people ductaped thenmselves across the highway to protest the war.

Mapleleaf.
I was just in your fair city, driving through the Bronx, Queens, and Brooklyn. Someone might as well have duct taped themselves across the Triboro Bridge, as it took us an hour to cross it.
Good argument for better mass transit and lower population.

That sounds like a LOT of ducttape.

I think it is a better argument for using Zookeepers with tranquilizer guns to assist our police force.

It's not duct tape that holds up traffic, but people who hold up traffic.

LOLOLOL!! These people had to be from out of town to risk laying themselves out on a Tri-State highway!

They'd better not try that in Montreal!

I also did not visit the fine folks in Maine while we looked at colleges there.
Had there been more time, I would have attempted a meeting with Violin, while we were in Jersey, Tom Terrific and Lyra while we were in the DC/Baltimore area, and many other people that I would like to meet. I did have pleasant but short time visiting with the illustrious Pedxing.

As far as bag nights go, there were no opportunities to find any straw bales lying around. Therefore, I spent time in dorm rooms and motels.

You mean NJ drivers stopped for people in the highway???

Must be an urban legend.

Somebody tell me again, why is New York City so cool?

The auto impoundment lot is a real treat. Did you see that? Great entertainment - a cross between Seinfeld and Barney Miller.

Dun, if you are going to judge the city on a basis of traffic jams and a joyride thru the ghetto, then yes, chances are you won't enjoy yourself. Treat yourself to a trip to the car pokey and have a good time! Get high and get impounded, I say!!

I think they should make up bumper stickers that read "I (heart) the auto impoundment lot."
Geobeet

Hey, I wouldn't disparage anyone who lives in NYC, especially the Tree family. I just wonder, sometimes, what the attraction is?
I've met several ex-NYC'ers, and I notice they don't go back to visit very often.
The view of Manhattan was interesting, I will admit. When I got back to my little village, my oh my, how small it seems. Hallelujah!

Yeah Dun, Maple and Tree show folks the best parts of New York. Broadway shut down over a musician strike? No problem! The Trees have an alternative that puts Broadway to shame!

I think I understand. A couple of Yahoo's were trying to get in a bag night. In an Artex-like moment they broke their sleeping bag zippers and in trying to fix them with duct tape, they taped themselves to the George Washington Bridge with loser-texx??????

Dun, it really is an exciting place here. But, I understand it's not for everyone. There's great music, food, shows, etc. And that's just out on the street and on the subway. really, there's lots to do. I, personally love this town. Then, there's the pound...

Minority Opinion
Excitement, no doubt.
In all fairness, I didn't get a chance to make it into Manhattan. The itinerary was tight, so I'll have to check out that part of town some other time. And, it's great if you are proud of your city.
Have you ever been to San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Kansas City?
Dunadan

No, no, no and no. But I would love to get to those places. especially Frisco...

I tell ya, New Yorkers all know each other even when they don't know each other. The analogy of a cross between Seinfeld and Barney Miller is about as close as I can come to describing it. It all came into focus at the auto impoundment lot.
Geobeet

Well, go if you get a chance. You won't regret it. And, next time I'm in town, you can show me the great parts of your city. I would love a tour from a local.
Dunadan

Get them to take you across my bridge (it's okay, I let anybody use it) and take you to the impoundment lot. You won't regret it.
Geobeet

I would be glad to, Dun. Between you and I, I don't think the pound will included on this tour...

Well, don't be surprised to see an e-mail from a midwesterner show up in your in box some day. I get back east every once in a while. I appreciate the invitation, even though I was so rude as to invite myself.
