Can we trick or treat? What about costumes???

I'm definitely up for this one! Let's figure out a place and get this on the trip page.

Smokey mountains?

My friends and I climbed Mt. Marcy on Halloween. We took masks and generally goofed around in camp and on the top of Marcy. It was frightfully funny!

I think we should plan this. I would think mask would be okay. Don't want to try to get some scarry makeup off my face while backpackign tho. I guess that's everyones choice tho.

Trick or treat would be fun! I could get a couple of chocolate candies with alcohol. (not much tho, they cost big $$$)

Smokeys would be okay with me. I love the smokeys.

Gemini

Geobeet
9:20:00 AM
3/21/03

LOL @ Corp. Nasty! Did you at least get a physical description of him to give to Gizmo?

Note to others: To avoid inside jokes that no one else gets (how rude!), "Brian" is a suspicous character who has been reported around the area we hiked who allegedly has been harrassing female hikers. Gizmo, the Ridge Runner (?) who works along the Appalachian Trail, warned of us him, as did another hiker before to someone in our group."

Mapleleaf
9:22:19 AM
3/21/03

I'd pack in treats for all, could be candy, caribiners, bandanas, something little and not expensive.

Oooh! those little bottles of alcoholic beverages!

The possibilities are only as limited as your imagination.

Jason, Jaso, Jason,
Sounds fun! How about somewhere like PA-Maryland Appalachian Trail? That's a closer midpoint for North/South east coast clans?
Capn Bobo
9:36:27 AM
3/21/03

That'd be about a 10-11 hour drive for me. Dunno about New Yawkers and Pestylvanians...

I think I'll dress up as Artex (Memo to self, find source for hog carcass to drag along trail).
Geobeet
9:39:11 AM
3/21/03

...and you'll need a vial of butyric acid (for the smell)...
bitpusher
9:41:48 AM
3/21/03

I think I can synthesize that with some help from some chili and beer.
Geobeet

maple. You are funny. I can just imagine. :)

who will list in on the trip page? let me know if I should do it. First we have to find exacts anyway. Smokeys would be great for me. It's about 4 or 5 hours for me, depending where I guess.

come on now yall, don't chicken out, we wont scare you too much!!

Mapleleaf

3/21/03

It looks like there are a couple of good state parks in the area, which might make it perfect for this sort of thing.

It does look like about 10-11 hour drive for me, but I think I can deal with it.
bitpusher
10:34:38 AM

I will have to take the kids trick or treating first then take off there after.

The AT in Maryland is very close to Gettysburg, Ewker. Antietam, too...

Bit,
That would be a great area too. Ghosts of the Civil War type stuff. Everyone bring a ghost story!!!!

I'm going to put this on the trip page, so that we can post details when the location in decided. I think the timing is pretty obvious.
dhutch1
10:48:34 AM

Here's a JPEG map of the AT in that area. Not a lot of Maryland detail, but it gives you a general idea of the location.
