Been there done that, you should be able to get my stuff to Dawg on a search, was sometime last year. This is the time to do it BTW, pretty steep and in the stream a lot, better now that when the weeds get tall and snakies are out in force. CS31 to the AT close to the bunion. Follow the trail then the little piles of stones, last 1/4 mile is VERY steep and a lot of climbing vs walking. Wouldn't try it with full pack, we climbed on a day hike with fanny packs and was fun. It will surprise you how much trash is on the ground when you get within throwing distance of the AT, generations of litter bugs. When in doubt up near the top angle right, I went left and it seemed from group debrief that right was an easier climb. Brings you out about 200 yds closer to the bunion.
luck,

Thanks guys! Will get this done first weekend in april. Exciting!
Dana wants to do it as a dayhike so our packs will be small. Should be okay. Even my pack is always a little larger because I take all this "emergency" stuff with me just in case :)

Of course!
Yeah. We're gonna be fine. It will be fun. I can blind everyone with my sparkle now when we come up over the edge onto the AT. I came out of the bloody dentist today. Went home... my kid says "Whoa Kewl, Mom! You've got a gold tooth!" and I DO! HOly schniekies! I look like something from LL Cool J's world. Back seata my jeep either that or a pirate. This thing's got to go!

Gosh, Dentist! That reminds me. Ahh better don't think about it. I just hope your gold tooth is not in the front. is it?? LOL sorry, I am just picturing this right now.

Hey, we still need to to talk about details. I guess I will contact you a couple days before. Man, it's been a while since the last time we run into each other in gatlinburg. Don't cancel on me you hear??

You're sure you want to do this as a day hike right? (I don't care either way) I guess the smaller pack will be to our advantage. I already told you I will probably come up a day before or so. Want to be rested for this trip and not have to get up at 3 or 4 o'clock, which I normally do. Hubby is worried, but he will get over it. Said that he wishes he could just follow me secretly to make sure I am okay. :) Gotta love him for that. I can just picture him sneaking up on us.

The TT board is great for fast info isn't it? you will need to go on a trip with us one day. Right everyone?????????????? It's always a lot of fun. Right????

I know you did not do any backpacking yet, but I think you'll like it.
