IN SEARCH OF BEST/EASY BACKPACKING RECIPE “We are in search of good/easy recipes for the trail. Anyone willing to share?” 8:01:09 PM 3/23/03 “Do a search at the bottom of the main Trail Talk page for "recipe" and another search for "food". You'll find lots of previous discussions if you do that, as well as some other interesting tidbits of conversation, like bacon rings (don't ask).” 8:20:13 PM 3/23/03 “This link looks wacked, but I'm pretty sure it works (copy and paste). Do you dehydrate? I've tried a few of these and they're pretty good. the Mexican corn pie rocks. http://205.147.231.116/search97cgi/s97_cgi?action=View&VdkVgwKey=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ebackpacker%2Ecom%2Farticle%2F0%2C2646%2C2317%2C00%2Ehtml%3F&DocOffset=1&DocsFound=7&QueryZip=dehydrator&Collection=backpacker&ViewTemplate=docview%2Ehts&SearchUrl=http%3A%2F%2F205%2E147%2E231%2E116%2Fsearch97cgi%2Fs97%5Fcgi%3Faction%3DSearch%26QueryZip%3Ddehydrator%26ResultTemplate%3DBPResults%252Ehts%26QueryText%3Ddehydrator%26Collection%3Dbackpacker%26ViewTemplate%3Ddocview%252Ehts%26ResultStart%3D1%26ResultCount%3D10&” 8:32:23 PM 3/23/03 “Another fair dinner is: Ramen noodles (w/o flavor packet) powdered alfredo sauce packet dry milk butter buds dried spices (oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley) Package of pink salmon (in the foil pack) Put the noodles, spices, milk, butter buds in a zip-lock that can handle boiling water (Glad e-z fill works great and has pleated bottom). On trail boil water, add to bag. Mix. Let hydrate 5-10 mins. Add salmon. Eat out of bag. No mess, no clean-up.” 8:37:20 PM 3/23/03 i'm not going to ask “But I typed bacon rings in the search at the bottom of the page and did not find any thing.” 8:53:16 PM 3/23/03 “I think this quote comes from the ISP of Crazy Mike: "I just think what I want to eat, and then I think how to pack it in" If it is owed to some one else I apollogize for my ill memory. I have found that bacpackermag offers good ideas, but they are nothing to what you can dream up. For instance, at the FYAO trip I was very worried I would pack the wrong foods. After weeks of rereading backpackermags and checking recipies I settled with my standard weekend spred, with the addition of fresh eggs.” 9:10:51 PM 3/23/03 “Did I say that????? 8\” 10:43:24 PM 3/23/03 “I've posted a list (several times) of about a half dozen books that I have used. Recipes include fresh and dehydrated food. If you can't find the list, I'll see if I can dig it up.” 10:50:57 PM 3/23/03
