ynami, this is just a suggestion, but have you considered moving out of the "Beirut" section of D.C.?

Maybe I will ynami - never had anyone try to steal my car before and this one has 120K on it - but that didn't keep these drunk kids from taking a brick and hammering the snot out of my steering column (have to replace the thing).

At least I've got what I need for winter hiking.

STP has a bunch on sale as well. It's the same price, but you get an additional 10-20% off if you use a coupon code. You could possibly make off with a glacier for $125.

Good luck!

I melted my Sierra Designs Red Booties last year, too. It is hard not to actually crawl into the fire when it is cold outside. Every now and then, a little feather comes floating out the little hole in the front. I figure I will go through a pair each year. I will try each manufacturer that way! LOL!

For $134 #&%!$ing dollars, you would have at least thought the damn things would come with a lace garter belt.

Well, when I got home and examined the contents of the bag holding cottonsocks new gear, I found the culprit.

The three pair of socks; two pairs each of panties and sock liners totaled about $80.

The ONE pair of gloves made up the balance.

Yesterday I was ready to kiss her ass with those high dollar panties. Today, I just want to shake her hand.

maple...
all that new gear...are you really gonna use it...some of us thought that you were like Lizs...a non-backpacker. but with gear like that, you'll look like a pro...

J/K...deary

gear review...on my new simmerlite stove...weight 8 oz...4 oz lighter than the whisperlight.

boil time...6.5 minutes on 3cups of water vs 8 minutes on the whisper light.

I'm happy, its smaller, lighter and burns better, and is easier to control for a simmer. but, I'm not sure what I'd simmer, cause all I do is boil water, but the other features made it worth the investment. And...I get to give the whisper lite to a good friend who has no stove.

I had narrowed it down to a whisperlite or simmer lite for early next year.

Looks like it might be the simmer lite.

I am sure none of you that have hiked with me will miss the old dragonfly. (although it already has a new home when I get a new one)

I'm wearing pants.....
I just got my new Fusion Pants today, from Beyond Fleece .They fit my fat butt perfectly and stretch so well they feel like tights. I just may have to run up to the mountains this weekend and try em out. I cant say enough about this place...custom made gear at reasonable prices.

Spirithand has also been telling me to let all the women know about Isis clothing for women. She says that the stuff fits better then anything she has worn in the past.

She also has likes her stuff from Wild Roses ...they make outerwear and underwear that has, er...uh...openings, that match zippers on Bibs and pants, that allow you to relieve yourself with out dropping your pants. They call it the P-System...kinda catchy, huh.

Got Mrs. Roseymonster Patagucchi panties before we split. Capilene and I think they cost about $30 a piece. Broke the fuggin bank but I gotta say, she loves them.

Sometimes you gotta pay for comfort and performance. Capilene lasts forever and dries in a snap.

No garter belt but hey...

stopped by the post office on my way to the trail head and picked up my new hammock - an Explorer Deluxe A-Sym. So of course I took it with me - just to try it out (grin) - wish I had not brought it on the hike out - the extra weight of the winter stuff plus the elevation gain put the old hurting on my butt - bonked just about at the top of Rocky Mount in SNP coming up the backside headed out.

ION replacement battery
Woo Hoo! Found a replace battery for my Black Diamond ION headlamp.
Radio Shack has them.
Replaced the 476 6V battery with a $4 Radio Shack 23-469 6V photo battery. A website wanted $10 plus shipping for a 476.

REI has a good 33% off sale on the Evernew Ultralight Titanium Pot - 1.3-liter $27.99. 4.58 oz. I love the built in handles on these pots. You can grab them without burning yourself.
Just ordered myself one.
Now I'll have both the 0.9 L AND the 1.3 L.
The 1.3L will allow me to cook for two now. The 0.9L is a little small for that.
I've got a kickass idea for a new potstand/windscreen for this bad boy! I'll post pictures when I get it done.

Hey divinity - Don't you just love it when you score some good cheap Wal-Mart gear!
