Came out with a new pair of shoes, a black rock ATC rapel device (with friction, baby!), a singing rock climbing harness, new nalgene lid, conversion racks for our yakima kayak racks (now we can put them on any of our vehicles), and some power bites. I'd taken sixty dollars cash. HA!” 8:52:50 AM 10/16/04 “dang Sass! You are the queen shopper, nice haul!” 9:34:46 AM 10/16/04 “A trip to the Denver Flagship REI was both rewarding and costly. A new Gregory Diva 60 pack and REI convertible pants for my wife - the salesgirl spent over an hour and a half getting the right pack fit. Precip full zip pants and Mad Rock climbing shoes for my older son. Scarpa Alpha mountaineering boots for me - on clearance for $99. Plus a couple of new nalgenes and a water filter maint kit.” 12:31:21 PM 10/18/04 “uhh...almost forgot about my new gear. bought me the women mountain hardware phantom down jacket. 13 ounces or so for the women version. 800 fill. very light. don't know how warm yet as I had no chance to try it. and last but not least, I finally found my old boots at a local outfitter. Hope they will fit as well as the old boots.” 12:36:40 PM 10/18/04 “I got 4 new dry bags for my yak, ranging from XS to large. Now to shop for a kayak cockpit cover..yeehaw” 12:39:20 PM 10/18/04 “A new toy. $150 with camera bag, two 128 meg cars, usb reader, 8 batteries and charger. I needed another digital camera like I needed a hole in the head. ”11:53:18 AM 10/22/04 “looks like a bargain ! Is it used ? I need to get a digital.” 11:55:19 AM 10/22/04 “Yes, it's used. The E series of cameras is Oly's pro-level cameras. This one is older... first hitting the market around the end of 2001. It sports the 10x image stabilized lens, but is only 1.5mp. But, what makes the camera is the image capturing system that can capture 15 full resolution pictures in one second. It's designed for outdoor action type shots. I goto a lot of car races and football games and I love big zoom cameras with stabilization. ![]() ”12:01:09 PM 10/22/04 “bought Petzyl 12-pointer crampons. Ready to do some good winter backpacking this season.” 8:43:31 PM 10/24/04 “got them on sale at EMS in Allentown for $110, saved more than $30. Wooooo Hoooooooooooooooooo!!!” 9:32:20 PM 10/24/04 0F Down Bag Suggestion “Anyone have a suggestion for a good 0F down sleeping bag, mummy style. Warmth is most important followed by weight followed by price. I would like suggestions on products you have actually used.” 10:01:30 PM 10/24/04 New Gear Is Like Swallerin' A New Frog “ ”10:02:48 PM 10/24/04 “I have the North Face Maxwell's Demon. My husband has a Western Mountaineering. Both are rated zero degrees. His weighs less (can't remember what) and seems more user-friendly. Mine has so many extra-long cords for cinching everything down that I wonder if I'll strangle myself in my sleep and I never remember which one is which when I need one. It is superbly warm, though.” 10:56:28 PM 10/24/04 “So, are these sleeping bags new gear for you? Do you recommend the TNF bag? How about the WM bag?” 11:14:51 PM 10/24/04 “i just got a pair of crampons too, ENS, but i'm not so sure i'll get to use them this winter beings my leg is AFU.” 7:18:35 AM 10/25/04 0 degree bag: “http://backcountrygear.com/catalog/bagdetail.cfm/MS3010 I want one, but I will have to pay for car repair and tires first. :( last edited: 10/25/04 7:21:57 AM” 7:21:27 AM 10/25/04 “I got to use my singing rock climbing harness this weekend. It was awesome! I chose it because it was the least expensive one with a bit of padding and the store had few in my size to choose from (and there are few stores that sell them in the local area). It was the most comfy harness I've ever put on and the rapel guide actually told me it's one of the nicer models available and compares to some of the more expensive black diamond models. If any of you are in the market for a harness check out singing rock. Five star rating from me.” 7:53:27 AM 10/25/04 “Ok you guys...ya'll are making me jealous! I need an excuse to buy some new gear!” 9:05:03 AM 10/25/04 “Come on UPS man!” 9:07:46 AM 10/25/04 “I just got a brand new Go lite Trek pack off ebay for 70.00, also ordered the Marmot Helium 15° down bag. It weighs 1 lb 10 ozs, got it for 259.00 plus free shipping. On my way to some lighter loads to carry. now to see about the tarptent last edited: 10/25/04 2:55:02 PM” 2:53:39 PM 10/25/04 “How much would you give me for my cloudburst with sewn in zippered floor?” 2:56:39 PM 10/25/04 “Ewker, where did you pick up the helium?” 2:59:20 PM 10/25/04 “hubcap, I got it from Plateau Outdoors here in Tn. They had the helium long listed on ebay and I contacted him about a reg length. He emailed me back with that price.” 3:19:28 PM 10/25/04 “DDX, how much does the Cloudburst weigh withthe extras you have on it.” 3:40:36 PM 10/25/04 Books And Videos Are Gear.............Aren't They? “Yesterday I ordered the books "Constructing a Five String Banjo" By Roger Siminoff, "Complete Banjo Repair" By Larry Sandberg, and the "Banjo Set-Up & Maintenance" video by Jim and Janet Davis. It may not be for hiking, but this is gear I'm definitly goig to need.” 7:07:03 PM 10/25/04 “Ewker, the tarptent is almost exactly like the batray isn't it? What's the difference?” 11:17:27 PM 10/25/04 “sass, the tarptent is a lot lighter than the batray. I got my Marmot Helium 900 fill 15° down bag today. It is so soft and comfy. Can't wait to try it out.” 12:13:01 PM 10/27/04 “you'll have to just sleep in it on your bed until you hit the trail. i've done that before w/ my sleeping bag. : )” 12:15:37 PM 10/27/04 “I have a tarptent - love it just bought the helium bag - trying this weekend. but i know i'll love it.” 12:16:37 PM 10/27/04 “And the Batray, while you can get a "floor' for it the floor doesn't seal against the sides... so you can't keep out the crawlies as easy.” 12:32:28 PM 10/27/04 “DX, the crawlies really don't bother me to much. It is more the rain than anything but that is up to location, location” 12:33:57 PM 10/27/04 “I really really want a Snowline :o) http://www.mountain-equipment.co.uk/sleepingbags/extreme/index.html” 12:58:14 PM 10/27/04 “'Crawlies' in the SE bother me! Them cotton mouth copperhead water ratters bother me big time! ;-)” 1:01:27 PM 10/27/04 “Y2, they really need to post the sizes in American weights and lengths. I hate having to look up the conversion forumla's” 1:02:40 PM 10/27/04 “anyone know where i can find hiking gear for kitties?” 1:02:55 PM 10/27/04 “Ewker - America needs to move into the modern era ;op” 1:06:01 PM 10/27/04 “Y2, we got rid of the British ways many yrs ago ;)” 1:07:29 PM 10/27/04 “And yet you still use the British system on measurements?” 1:57:53 PM 10/27/04 Jump to Page << prev
