I got another REI nylon shirt like my (once white) grey one. I love it, has zippers where the seams would be in a normal shirt (think womens', with princess seams) front and back, with mesh pannels for ventilation. SPF 40 too. And it was half the price I paid for the first one.

I got a new Nalgene tonight, and two splash guards and a new loop top for the one that my stupid puppy chewed up a year ago or so.

shhhh, don't tell, but I got Sarah a Sierra Design "climate control" jacket and pants too. Should make a good wind/dry layer for her.

I picked up some fleece pants from Old Navy for $10. This should work pretty good around the campfire in the evenings. Those Alabama winters are brutal.

Did that fix your problem with the mouse locking up, Nigal?

Nigal, that's the same mouse we have. The only problem we've had with it is Laurel walking away and playing with it in some other room. She's past that phase now.
I got HPM a few new gear items for Christmas, though I'm very very tempted to keep one for myself! ;)

Just forked over a few hundred bucks at REI earlier this evening (had a gift card and exchange, which helped).

Long undies for BowlderGal
Long undies for BowlderSon
Couple o' winter-type shirts for them
XC ski boots for B-Son (adult size now = 30 bucks more!)
Snow boots for B-Gal
Gloves for B-Son
Trekking poles for me
Probably some other stuff, too - I'm still kinda delerious....

Woo-hoo indeed!!

Oo, almost forgot. Took B-Son's old XC ski boots (2 pair) to Wilderness Exchange - they gave me $9/pair store credit!

Woo hoo! Thinkbubelz & I are the proud new owners of a Primus Teakettle (thanks to Tarabull! :-) )

Thinkbubelz also scored a waterproof wallet and an REI gift certificate card! :-)

Can't wait to hit the stores after the holidays!

One item I forgot about in my gear bonanza: Down booties for BowlderGal. She'll use these on New Year's weekend at Tioga Pass Resort, but then BowlderSon will take ownership for winter camping....

I went to Galyans on Saturday to pick through their sale stuff before they switch over to Dicks.

I scored a Galyans brand jacket for running and an Equinox Mantis bug bivy - both 50% off.

They also had a couple Equinox silnylon extended ponchos for half price. I thought about buying one or both but refrained since I already have one.

New Gear for Christmas!!

BowlderCousins got me an REI Rock jacket - nice, it has a hood, too!

Other BowlderCousins got me a $50 REI gift card, so I get to pick out some gear for myself!

Non-backpacking gear:

BowlderGal got me a combo coffee maker and espresso machine. Yes, I made a cappuchino this morning, as well as a pot of regular coffee for my thermos!

In a late gift exchange from my wife and I (due to the family travels inherent in our xmas's) I am the happy owner of a new Lunar Solo.

I also have a new digital scale to enable my weight-weeny-ish.

ooooooh, hubcap, digital scales are fun!

I got some awesome non-backpacking gear for Christmas; a kitchenaid professional 5 quart stand mixer (gorgeous red) and a new stove and oven as the old one gave it's last breath of hot air on Christmas morning. That Santa sure is nice.

New backpacking gear: pair of 200 weight polartech pants and and new wool sweater so the old one can go into the gear drawer.

Santa brought Abby a new pinchy light to go on her whistle necklace for hiking. She lost it before I could get it in the gear closet! It's somewhere in this house.

Made a big boo-boo when at the whole foods store and I'm now the proud owner of 1/2 of a pound of Kona Coffee (at $39.98 per pound?!!!)

I was wondering why my groceries were so expensive, but didn't realize what I had done until AFTER we had brewed 4 cups of the coffee....LOL-- and Thinkbubelz & I aren't even big coffee drinkers!

Guess I'll be checking my labels more carefully in the future, rather than running in and out of a store a 1/2 hour before guests come by....

(We also have one of those combo expresso/coffee machines (Krupps brand-- our very 1st wedding present!)-- we basically only use it when we have guests!)

Use the coffee press with that Kona so you get the most out of it. I tried to buy some for KabinKamper for her birthday last year but the shop was out of it.

I scored a Thermarest Prolite 4 mattress with stuff sack and chair kit. I also ordered a -5 degree mummy bag with quallofill insulation for $49.95! It was an overrun from The Sportsman's Guide and weighs only 4 pounds. It came with its own compression sack and I used it this weekend at Roan. Even tho we had a small heater it got very cold in the cabin, but my new bag kept me very toasty! I must have been "good" this year for sure.

I had the guy make the grind a bit finer so that we wouldn't be using as much coffee grounds....

Ready for winter!

Thermarest Z Lite (long) to supplement my air mattress. And a CoolMax Cocoon liner for the ole sleepy bag!

Also picked up an REI tech long sleeve t shirt too.

They didn't have any down booties, unless your a girl and have a fairly small foot.

A new pocket rocket stove
A MSR hard anondized aluminum fry pan
2 new non stick saucepans
Lexan spoon, fork, and knife
SS drinking cup that can be used as a small cook pot
$100 that I'm going to use for a new pack to be used on trips when I take my son.

Hey dayhiker, nice haul there! A trick my dad taught me for nonstick pots and pans is to cut a piece of bubble wrap to keep in it when traveling so when you net them they don't scratch.

I just got my new Gerber folding saw and a whole set of OR Hydrolite stuff sacks.

That rug non-skid padding works great too and doesn't pop. I actually use it for my pots and pans at home.

Every skillet I ever had that had the folding handle ended up with a scratch where the handle rubs the inside of the skillet. Then I thought, what the hell do I need a skillet for? LOL!

I just put my bike on the new trainer. It's wheel, not tire driven and has variable tension. In addition, my bike guy threw in some sweet adidas mtn bike shoes that his wife ordered, but never wore and a bike computer with 12 functions, but wait....there's more! I guess he knows a good customer when he sees one! Talk about service!

Picked up an REI Down time sleeping bag, I wanted to get something that would save some weight compared to my synthetic bag, this one's the same weight but it is rated 5 degrees colder, and it's down so it compacts a hell of a lot smaller, and the real kicker... $129.
