“What is snow skating?
It's essentially a crossover sport for people who do a lot of inline skating in the summer, and who are looking to do in the winter. (As opposed to snowboarding, which is a crossover sport for people who commit vandalism and other crimes in the summer.) (That's a joke!)”

“I took the plunge and bought a Kifaru tipi - 8 man with a wood burning stove. It's massive but only about 8lbs (12 lbs with the stove). I set it up in my yard this weekend. It was 15 degrees outside - got a fire going in the stove with some dead branches and within 20 minutes it was 110 degrees inside the tent!
now I can fit the whole fam damily in one tent that weighs less than my old walrus two man. Can't wait to use it in the mountains later this month!”

““Picked up an REI Down time sleeping bag, I wanted to get something that would save some weight compared to my synthetic bag, this one's the same weight but it is rated 5 degrees colder, and it's down so it compacts a hell of a lot smaller, and the real kicker... $129.”

“It has a large footprint (18'x15') so I'll probably stash gear around the perimeter where the headspace is low. The stove is pretty much in the center.

We had 50 to 60 mph winds in Casper this weekend too - no problem. I AM GEEKED TO USE THIS TENT!”

Snowthrower for my tractor, which my wife and I need to pick-up in MI. An 11-hour drive from me one-way. My wife said "lets do a road trip to get it", so I said "sure". Hey, I gotta keep my driveway clear so I can get out to hike, right? So, its on-topic.”

Prolite 3/4 length pad
Body Armor longsleeve shirt
New fleece pullover
New shell with fleece lining and hood
The shell is a Nike of all things but it looks good and I couldn't pass up the price..$59 after 75% off. Its very light, water resistant, looks warm, has draw strings at hood and waist, velcro draws at wrist. Anyone know if this is a decent shell, cant remember the name of it off hand.

I never buy anything for myself, boy did that feel good.”

It was funny. I actually got excited about some tea lights I found. They were little citrinila tea lights! I found a box of 10 for a buck at the dollar store. I've had all the lanterns I think. The standard candle lantern, the standard with the oil insert but my favorite is the cheapy tea light. No mess, puts off the same light and it's lighter (I know, it's negligable).

I got a small led flashlight that the whole end slides and creats a little lantern. I'm going to try it out this weekend.

My new 4 season tent - Kelty Radiant 2

I think I like it - looks like it'll ventilate really well with zipperd mesh panels in the roof and zippered vents in the fly roof as well - closeable panels in each end and on each door.

Might even get a chance to try it out this weekend!”

“The first time I ever slept in a Kelty I was very impressed. Great little details and fetures like the one way pole sleeves making it real easy to set up, vents everywhere, little windows and nice big vestibules. Two of us slept in it and there was zero condensation. Great choice!”

“I think so.

I had a much simpler one, basically just a carrier with no packing capability, when my oldest was little. One day when she was very young, a month or two? (can't remember) I decided to try it out. I put her in it and took a walk around the neighborhood. Unfortunately, she wasn't quite strong enough to hold up her head yet, and so her head sagged down to the side. Fortunately I noticed this before I had gone far, and I took her home.

So, unless it's got some sort of neck support for very little ones, you may have to wait a bit before using it.”

I just got my new Freathered Friends down Booties, as a matter of fact I am wearing them right now. they are da bomb. Epic waterproof outer shell and an 800 fil down inner bootie that you can wear in your sleeping bag.

Also just got my Sawvivor pocket saw.
