As for the weight, its not that bad, when you consider its a 4 season tent, that I will use primarily in winter and haul with a sled. I'll probably use it, for when I take the dog, and use just the outer tent.(floor-less)

I sold my other Hilleberg tent, so I had almost 1/2 the price of the new tent covered.
This is the only way, I would buy something this pricey, makes it easier explaining it to the old lady too?

Did the same thing when I bought the WM Versalite bag.
I Sold my old WM Puma, and used the money for the new bag, had 2/3 of the price of the new bag covered, from that sale.

Yep, I'm aware of these facts, but don't intend to use it for mountaineering or anywhere up high and exposed. All 3 pole sleeves have guy-out points, one on each side totaling 6. So, if you get into some heavier winds, then it would need to be tied out, at all these points, which actually total around 10, I believe?”

“got my new trail runners today...the Vasque Blur. Went with the Gortex only because they didn't have the "regular" blur. Still seems crazy to me...step in water deep enough and its gonna go over and into the shoe NO matter HOW MUCH gortex. Oh well...my last pair (Vasque Velocity) wouldn't have passed inspection at the Shell station....so yippeee..let there be tread!

OH YEA it didn't dawn on me today..but talked to the REI rep today to see if they would still take a return on my boots since I can't use them now..and they said yes. So one day i'll ride back up to REI and get a store credit for those. I even told them it wasn't the boots fault its my body's/knees fault...they didn't mind..said "bring em on back". REI Membership is really nice..highly recommend it.”

“I needed them this past weekend on Mt. Rogers. (I tend to slide around a lot in snow anyway though) but there were several places on the trail that were quite icy.

Once you look at the picture and see the labels on the microspikes, I find them QUITE easy to put on and off your boots. Its very simple and totally worth the money.”

Also had some Asolo Flame GTX boots issued, and they're pretty good, but I'm having some kind of issue with my right Achilles tendon and it flares up when I wear the Asolos. In fairness though, it hurts with almost any boot I wear right now except a pair of old Haix boots I have. Even my trusty old Montrails aggravate it. Doesn't hurt with running shoes though, thankfully.”

Been meaning to pick up a collapsable snow shovel (metal blade only) for a while and scored a Backcountry Access EXT shovel with a extendable shaft so you don't have to break your back scooping snow. Also will accomodate an avalanche probe in the handle. ON SALE, $30 instead of the usual $45.

Lost one of my freakin' overmits the other week and so had to pick up a new pair. It was a hard choice but I ended up going with the OR Snowline Mitt. Their W/B equivaent and fleece lined. Got 'em big enough so I can add another liner if need be (I like fingerless).

All set for 15 degrees and fresh powdah this weekend! Woo hoo!!”
