Just park the car facing uphill to offset the slope of the Autocot.

lol.....
(It does not suitable for some Ford and Mazda made cars and two seaters due to their seats configuration.)

good golly. park your car on a hill? and if there's no hill? no only do you have to pack your matching autocots but you also need to have a set of car ramps in the trunk. gotta be a joke... right?

Osprey Exposure 50 Pack
Ordered this backpack with my REI coupon and dividend. I have wanted more of a climbing/lightalpine pack for a while and this one seemd to be a good bet. It should hold my crampons, ice axe, skis, etc yet still have enough room for basic gear, food, and a hydration bladder. it also hase forward gear loops which is key for holding stoppers, belay tool, etc. i am a little worried it won't work well with a harness but i can't imagine osprey would offer a climbing pack with these features that didn't work well with a harness... we shall see.

never owned an osprey pack before. i hear they are very comfortable. the suspension system certainly looks like it could be. has anyone used the "custom hipbelt" thing... heating it up at a vendor like rei and form fitting the hipbelt?

looks like my Gregory Z55 pack. My hikin buddy has the Osprey and it is really a great pack. He had it on a hike last year and I was checkin it out then. You'll really enjoy it.

i did a lot of research. cptn jack had a gregory climbing pack i REALLY liked during my weeklong grand canyon trip. i seriously considered getting that but REI didn't have it and i wanted to use my 20% off coupon. the features of the two packs were very similar, really made for moderate to light alpine hiking.

I used the Atmos 50 for most of my hike on the AT. Because of its size (under 3000ci), it mandated that I trim weight and I was usually at 23-25 lbs going out of town with everything in it. It was the most comfortable pack that I've ever worn, so long as I didn't over pack. Some folks had problems with the metal struts breaking, but if you don't use your pack as a chair, it doesn't seem to happen. Osprey is very good about warranty issues.

LMFAO!!!
Yogi, I thought you were getting new boots with your coupon? LOL! I know, so much gear, so few dividends.

That's even the same colors as my Gregory! Aside from the back panel padding, they look almost identical.
Well, you know I love mine. It's very versatile. The Gregory has a removable plastic frame sheet, and AL stay, and the hip belt padding, and lid are removable too. All that stuff will save you about 22oz. if you are really trying to go UL. I think I'll do that for the knobstone next month since I only plan on spending one night out.

the pack was more expensive than the boots so i used the coupon on the pack. i have a pair of tnf boots i can use until the asolos go on sale. it will happen. i do need new boots but even if i hike between not and august these tnf boots fit very well, i put fresh sno seal on them, and they have a lot of tread left.

dudes, why all you tter's brag on what gear you have? like a kid showing off. bragging and fighting for who is the coolest gear dude on trail talk, cheezy dudes.
my gear is all old and will outperform all your new junk. Hammocks are a mans best friend and those backpacks of today are designed to breakdown in a few years. made in china now with possible lead dye's. dudes come on now.

local rei garage sale...

Asolo TPS 520 GTX Hiking Boots (decent shape and they actually fit me well) reg $230... garage sale price (drum roll please) $39.83 (woo hoo!)

Madshus XC backcountry skis (metal edge) w nnn bindings (good shape... prior owner "hoped they would be more stiff") reg $169... garage sale price... $69.83

Alpina BC ski boots, nnn, (good shape... prior owner "felt some heel slipping") reg $99... garage sale price... $39.83

i just killed a pair of boots so these are a huge windfall for me.

some snow seal and a quick bake in the oven and the bootslook better than new.

cptn jack... those scuffed up toes on your boots from the grand canyon... the snow seal cleans that up real good like and all... :)

I saw you posting to this thread, and I thought "what has that bugger bought NOW!" LOL! I haven't had a chance to return my boots yet. I'm not sure if I will honestly. I'll see what they say in the store.
Sno seal, you say? I'll have to take a look at that if they don't replace them.

Great Gear Score!
Incredible score on the BC Ski gear for sure.

What model are the Alpina boots, 1550's perhaps.

I've got the 1550's too, and although a good boot, the new 1560's are even better. I tried to get a pair on clearance but they were all gone in my size. REI doesn't carry them yet, maybe they will next season though? Not many places carried them this season though.

The big difference btw the two models is the 1560 is a slightly beefier boot, with a plastic wraparound ankle cuff, and a more durable, waterproof, breathable fabric.

ReI Solo T1 Tent?
Any opinions on this tent anyone?

http://www.rei.com/product/761891?cm_re=shop*sh*qtdomet1

The width is pretty narrow.

Thinking about getting it with the 20% off coupon, today, before it expires.

Yeah me neither, 2 things I don't like with the tent you mention, price and no vestibule.

Those 20% off coupons are EVIL, I tell YA! EVIL!

I probably won't get anything at all? sniff

Very true, but I like vestibules for muddy, wet boots, raingear and such.

I've decided to hold off anyhow! AH, what will power! Those 20% off coupons would be a better deal, if you could use it for your total purchase and not just for a single item!

I'll just stick with my Tarp and Contrail.
