Can't wait to give it a try. Where did you get yours 32 oz?” 8:21:19 PM 1/28/09 “very nice 32. i'm in the same boat you are. I'm SOOO used to my 5400 cubic inch Kelty pack that I have no idea how to pack my new Gregory Z55. I reckon i'll get used to it though!” 8:27:28 PM 1/28/09 “Mildbill, C&C Outdoors located one a couple days after they told me that they were outta stock... Think I paid like 116 + 7 shipping or something like that.. The pocket for the bladder bag is a little smaller then I thought, but other then that it is great... I was going to try it out this week, but due to lows near 10, I'll go with my bigger pack... Can't wait to try it out though!!! '32oz” 6:17:48 AM 1/29/09 “http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/dancing_light_gear_ultralight_brawny_gg.html new used gear... woohoo!!!! '32oz” 5:56:35 PM 2/02/09 “Niiiiiiiiiice tent. I have heard great things about this tent. I like the side entry. I think this is the company that AntiGravityGear bought when the owners decided to get out of the business.” 10:28:03 AM 2/08/09 “This http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/,1433T_Coudveil-Zorro-Jacket-Waterproof-For-Men.html and expedition weight long undies tops and bottoms. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/161,14118_Kenyon-Long-Underwear-Top-Expedition-Weight-For-Men.html” 5:13:55 PM 2/09/09 Kar Kampin' with Kelty “Got a new car camp tent.... Kelty Green River 4 ![]() Got a sweet deal on it thru spadout.com too! Saved almost 100 bucks over regular list price. www.spadout.com” 12:58:44 PM 2/27/09 “You all realize there are 75 pages of new gear gloating here?! I just scored a brand new trekker tarp insert. Long discontinued, the shelter of dreams, alas, our insert had become so saggy and baggy it would lie across our faces as we slumbered. But, for a mere $112 our trekker tarp has been reborn! Would have been a lot less if those idiots on ebay knew how to bid.” 1:26:26 PM 3/08/09 “Ok, I'll bite.........ULA Olm pack ordered Feb.18th and still waiting. Not like I really need it now, but might try and use it for my tentative HCP hike? (If, we can spot a resupply vehicle?)” 1:37:18 PM 3/08/09 “We have about $130 worth of Rei dividend and gift cards to use some time soon.” 1:41:14 PM 3/08/09 “I've got a $68.00 dividend and a $40.00 gift card, but I can't actually think of anything I really need. Maybe just save it for dehydrated food and socks?” 2:00:50 PM 3/08/09 “i burned up most of my dividend yesterday on a new pair of climbing shoes. Now that the sunlights lasts a little longer in the evening i'm hoping to put them to good use this next week after work!” 5:51:02 PM 3/08/09 “pants” 6:01:40 PM 3/08/09 ““Ok, I'll bite.........ULA Olm pack ordered Feb.18th and still waiting. Not like I really need it now, but might try and use it for my tentative HCP hike? (If, we can spot a resupply vehicle?)” I ordered a Ula pack in Jan 06. I needed it by March 18 2006 and it arrived March 16.” 6:25:29 PM 3/08/09 “My new trail runners going back tomorrow. My left foot hurt after 1/2 mile! On the tread mill!!! Oh well I have running shoes that are fit fine. What's the diff between running shoes and trail running shoes? In general I mean. Would anything stop me from using my regular running shoes on the trail (other than they are nearly all white?)?” 6:24:45 PM 3/15/09 “NOTHING if they work wear them.” 6:27:13 PM 3/15/09 “My ULA Ohm, will be arriving Thursday, YES!!!” 7:15:37 PM 3/15/09 “Thanks Yogster!” 7:32:13 PM 3/15/09 “The basic dif between runners and TR's is the tread. If you are hiking on well maintained trails, and not doing anything technical then go for it. I would prolly think twice before doing much bouldering, or tackling slick, or sharp rock, or mud though. Put some weight in your pack then wear it around the house for a while with your runners on and see if they feel any different. If not, then have a crack at it on a short trip. If they still feel good have at it!” 7:42:35 PM 3/15/09 “I heard Meangreen ordered a lexan margarita glass and a stippled pink butt plug. Ah! Ya gotta love new gear!” 8:13:01 PM 3/15/09 “get it right! The margarita glass was green! the chop sticks are pink, and the plug is glow in the dark green so you can find it in the tent next time!!! Ya basturd!!! LMAO!!!!” 8:56:47 PM 3/15/09 “i hear some ppl in colorado climb 14ers in their "retired from the road" running shoes. super light, ultra comfy.” 11:07:57 PM 3/15/09 “Actually, the out-soles of trail runners are a bit softer than regular running shoes, because they're made for the dirt, not concrete. So, trail runners wear out faster than regular running shoes. You won't notice any difference on the trail though, esp if you choose running shoes with nice tred.” 5:53:06 AM 3/16/09 “Thanks you guys!” 7:44:18 AM 3/16/09 “i hear some ppl in colorado climb 14ers in their "retired from the road" running shoes. super light, ultra comfy. Yogisan 12:07:57 AM 3/16/09 yep. some do. ;) I use my 'retired' running shoes for trail shoes/approach shoes/scrambling shoes. they dry fast when they get wet and they're super lightweight.” 8:12:34 AM 3/16/09 “I just scored a new pack on sale from Refrigerator Outfitters in Troutdale,VA!” 9:06:46 AM 3/16/09 “Picked up a pair of Keen Targhee II mid at REI the other day. Most comfortable out of the box hiker ever. My Old Asolos were killin my feet. I think that my feet are finally showing their mileage. Anyhoo I'm taking my mutt down to Savage gulf in a couple of weeks for an overnighter to get some miles on them. I also ordered a pair of Kuhl Guide pants from REI-Outlet.com for half price. Can't wait to get out. I haven't been in quite some time.” 10:18:34 AM 3/16/09 “Got a new backpacking tent.. with my dividend and 20% off. Its a little heavy, but it has room for most of my gear. Check it out... http://www.rei.com/product/785387” 4:41:26 PM 3/16/09 “the stuff sack prolly doubles as a backpack” 7:08:18 PM 3/16/09 “Holy CRAP! 30 pounds!! How often you planning on using that thing Winddragon?” 5:27:49 AM 3/17/09 “I was thinking about taking it on my Wonderland trail hike this summer.” 1:22:11 PM 3/17/09 “how many sherpas are you taking with you?” 3:08:37 PM 3/17/09 “or pack mules.” 5:37:51 PM 3/17/09 “I just realized that this tent doesn't have a floor and its not freestanding. wtf? For 30# you would atleast think this tent is freestanding.. Seriously though, I did get a tent.. a mirage 2 from black diamond.” 8:48:51 AM 3/22/09 “I spent the weekend stimulating the economy. Living in a small town where the nearest REI is 123.78 mi. away, the local Sports Authority doesn't even bother having end of season sales. So I over-paid for a cushy base layer. A guy at my favorite backpacking gear store convinced me I needed an Arc'teryx soft shell (what the hell is an arc'teryx anyway?). Saved $80 of the list price. Got some nice hiking pants by the North Face.” 6:40:03 AM 3/23/09 “have you guys seen the new BigAgnes Tent...I think its called Fly Creek UL 1 or something. It is 8 oz. lighter than the BA Seedhouse SL1 that so many people seem to love. :)” 6:43:26 AM 3/23/09 LOL “Arc'terix is a Canuck company. I got a post office box in Chateaugay, NY almost 30 years ago. Then it was difficult to find decent gear, let alone gear made in Canada. It was a bummer to drive to Montreal and find something out of stock. Then, Canucks got crazy, Sierra Designs stuff (for Canada at least) is made here and we have companies like Arc'terix, G3 (genuineguidehear.com), Faber and GV snowshoes (well, snowshoes were ALWAYS made here, I guess) and MEC. It's expensive stuff, however. last edited: 3/23/09 11:47:51 AM” 12:06:45 PM 3/23/09 “Arc'terix stuff is high end, well built and will last longer than other gear. BUT - i don't think it's nearly long lived enough, or better than other stuff to justify its extremely high cost. You can buy two soft-shell jackets for less than the price of one Arc'teryx jacket and I bet the two jackets will outlast the one Arc'teryx.” 12:35:03 PM 3/23/09 “They are selling Arc'terix gear over here too. High end price of course.” 12:50:34 PM 3/23/09 “Better to support Canada than China. My choice was that or a snowboarder jacket with goofy colors. This one makes me look like a mountain climber.” 2:13:58 PM 3/23/09 “MEC makes some nice gear. When the exchange rate btwn the CAN and US dollar was to the US favor, I used to buy MEC gear. MY wife has a bomber GTX XCR jacket and we both have the full xip XCR rainpants that have been used and abused and are still going strong. I would buy those rainpants again in a heartbeat.” 2:26:15 PM 3/23/09 “Yep, did it again, Gossamer Gear Gorilla pack with 2 medium hip-belt pockets and 1 LH shoulder strap pocket. Somebody stop me! I'm starting to feel like the Emelda Marcos of backpacks.” 5:29:18 PM 3/25/09 “you NEED a backpack for your backpacks dude last edited: 3/25/09 8:09:50 PM” 8:30:33 PM 3/25/09 “you NEED a backpack for your backpacks dude last edited: 3/25/09 9:09:50 PM Yogisan 9:30:33 PM 3/25/09 I know, I know, just when I had sold a bunch off and got down to 3-4, I'm back up to or will be back up to probably 8 packs. Of all gear, I probably like fooling with packs the most, followed by shelters...tents, tarps, tarptents etc. last edited: 3/26/09 5:55:24 AM” 6:15:35 AM 3/26/09 “Y'all's gettin pricy! I have three packs. One monster external frame Jansport that I started with, one moderate size Gregory internal frame climbing pack, that is extremely versatile, and one hydration pack from Wal-mart that I've never used, and prolly never will. I have about $400 in all 3 of them, total.” 9:28:34 PM 3/26/09 “Did you ever buy that camera case? Which one did you get?” 9:36:06 PM 3/26/09 “Funny story. GatherNoMoss sent me a dry box a little bigger than a pack of smokes that my camera fits in with ample room for me to add some padding, but now my quandry is to figure out how to attatch it to my shoulder strap since it only has a lanyard. I was thinking about some kind of adhesive backed velcro maybe. Any idea's?” 9:42:31 PM 3/26/09 “Epoxy regular velcro to it. Try it on a junk plastic box first. The adhesed kind they sell in the fabric store doesn't stick long. last edited: 3/27/09 5:03:33 AM” 5:24:20 AM 3/27/09 “Agree with Sass.. I took the adhesive velcro and attached small waterproof boxes to the lid of the box i use for car camping. When you opened the lid, the boxes were right there with spices, matches etc.. It was great.. Until the velcro became unstuck.. Next Time i'm hot gluing everything.. '32oz” 5:40:37 AM 3/27/09 “Man...32, I D ring everything I can. Sorry had too many velcro things come loose at the worst time.” 6:03:17 AM 3/27/09 Jump to Page << prev
