YOU LIE...or you have just had a mental breakdown...LOL...

Do you really think this will end your addiction to GEAR LUST? I think not...32. PLEASE retract that statement *(LOL)

dizzy: it's a huge issue in some places... the grand canyon you are basically a food supply to varmints... they have ammo cans to store food in at some camp sites.... but the backcountry sites you are on your own. a few weeks ago in CO mice were free-ranging in my pack and had i not left the zippers open they certainly would have chewed open doors of their own. lol!

if you haven't had a problem in 40 years why are you now looking at these? it's an outstanding product, btw. if you are going on a trip and need to borrow one I have a few and would be glad to loan you one. just email me with shipping info.

I do love my lithium. It is so very poofy! And I am a cold sleeper. I also love the song.

Lithium lyrics
Songwriters: Cobain, Kurt; Novoselic, Krist; Grohl, David;

I'm so happy 'cause today
I found my friends
They're in my head
I'm so ugly, that's okay
'Cause so are you
Broke our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday
For all I care
And I'm not scared
Light my candles, in a daze
'Cause I've found God

Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah

I'm so lonely, that's ok
I shaved my head
And I'm not sad
And just maybe
I'm to blame for all I've heard
I'm not sure
I'm so excited
I can't wait to meet you there
And I don't care
I'm so horny, that's okay
My will is good

Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah

I like it I'm not gonna crack
I miss you I'm not gonna crack
I love you I'm not gonna crack
I killed you I'm not gonna crack

I like it I'm not gonna crack
I miss you I'm not gonna crack
I love you I'm not gonna crack
I killed you I'm not gonna crack

I'm so happy 'cause today
I found my friends
They're in my head
I'm so ugly, but that's okay
'Cause so are you
Broke our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday
For all I care
And I'm not scared
Light my candles in a daze
'Cause I've found god

Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah

I like it I'm not gonna crack
I miss you I'm not gonna crack
I love you I'm not gonna crack
I killed you I'm not gonna crack

I like it I'm not gonna crack
I miss you I'm not gonna crack
I love you I'm not gonna crack
I killed you I'm not gonna crack

For Tango

I have a hard time being comfortable in a mummy bag and I have a hard time finding rectangle bags I like or that pack small for cooler weather.

it did take me a few trips to get comfortable and used to the mummy bag, but you can't beat it for winter use.

Hey 32 oz
How much difference is there between the Latitude Vapor and the Nimbus Lat?
mildbill

10/02/09

mildbill
I can answer that 'cause I just made the switch myself. I assume that you're mainly talking weight: the NimLat is 3lbs 8ozs, and the LatVapor is almost a pound lighter at 2lbs 10ozs ('cause it doesn't have the Tepex frame sheet that the NimLat does). Other than that, they are very similar packs. I actually prefer the side load compression straps on the LatVapor. I just used the pack for the very first time on a trip to the Dolly Sods Sept 11-13, carrying btwn 23 and 28 lbs, and it was very comfortable. Really glad I made the switch.

I have the Lat/Vapor and I have only used it twice. So far I like it. I just keep finding myself looking at the Nim/Lat for some reason. I don't need it, but it just keeps calling my name.

mildbill- I certainly can understand the feelin' that a piece of gear "just keeps calling my name"! Haven't we all heard that siren call?!? As far as the NimLat is concerned, I think the only reason to use it is to be able to comfortably handle a 30-40 load, that's what it's suspension is built to bear. Also, the fabrics used are a little more heavy-duty, so it might survive better if you were intending to do a lot of scrambling over rocks and bushwhacking with it.

Not a whole lot.. the nimbus carries about 10 pounds more then the vapor...

My vapor latitude took a pounding this summer, but I loved it so when I saw this deal I couldnt resist..

It shipped on Friday!!!! I'm looking forward to using it this winter...

The WM Puma seems like a very warm bag and the price is twice as much as I have ever paid for a bag but Western Mountaineering has a good rep. so I thought I would splurge.

replaced the rotten o-rings in my bearikade... i emailed them and they sent me a new set in the mail for 10 bucks. it was NOT easy to replace the large one... the o-rings are to keep food odors in but i bet it would do equally well keeping water out.
Yogisan

Yes. It does keep water out. Keep 'em lubed with silicon lube and they will last you much longer.

I just picked up a Whitebox stove. I probably could made one but these guys have it down to a science with a nice rolled edge at the top. The 25 min burn time w/ 2 oz of fuel (enough to boil 8-10 cups of water) was a real selling point. At sub 1 oz., it is still an ultralight stove but will let me boil enough water for multiple peeps. I hope I can rig some sort simmer ring on it since it's a side burner (stove doubles as a pot support).

10/07/09

yeah, the guy at wild ideas told me about the lube and said that it makes it easier to open as well. i don't have any silicone lube so i'll have to pick some up. the o-ring was a beotch to get in.

to keep water out I just stash the bearikade upside down someplace where there won't be a puddle

I'm guessing that Granite Gear will be coming out with some big updates to their pack-line.
I do know that they were supposed to be coming out with the Escape pack, which will be a Vapor suspension, but will have adjustable shoulder straps, and a big outer, zippered front pocket, with stretch fabric side panels.

I also picked up one of these. Figured it was way lighter and smaller than a full pair of binocs and would let me do some birding, route finding, etc. at a fraction of the weight.
