Just ordered me a new Sierra Designs Ultra Flash tent for the Savage Gulf trip.
4#2oz, just big enought for two friendly people.
It's the same as the SD Clip Flashlight, but made with lighter materials.
I haven't bought a new tent in months, feels good! ;)

Okay here's an update:

1. iRiver MP3 Player. For the opiate of music that dulls the pain during all that elevation gain.
2. Linksys Wireless G Access Point. Wireless laptop access to control the world.
3. Nikon 18mm-35mm Lens. Pretty slick, just haven't used it yet.
4. Cokin ND Filter and Lens Adapters. Whatever.
5. Neutral Density filter 62mm. Useless until I get a 62mm lens. LOL
6. Circular Polarizer replacement 72mm - cracked the last one on Vetter Mtn.
7. 70oz Hydration Bottle. Last one sprang a leak. Soaked my pack.
8. A gaggle of AA batteries for the GPS, for the radio, for the MP3 player, for the camera, for the phone, for the headlamp... I live on AA's. Double-A kid here.

Teva Belmont Boots
Anyone familiar with Teva's line of boots? I found the Belmont (in an unusual variety of sizes)at STPost for a typically lowball STP price. Anyone have any experience they can relate? Also, are there any current coupon codes floating around?

I love my existing hiking boots: Asolo AFX 535. I've had them since 1998, I believe, and they are still in great condition.

Asolo stopped making those this past year and so I ordered a new pair to have around when my old one's finally fail.

Got them in the mail yesterday. They look so pretty! :-)

call me fcking lazy, but i HATE bear-bagging (plus, i suck at it), so im considering getting a bearikade. the 9-day one weighs only 2 lbs 5 oz, roughly equivalent to what a food bag and rope would weigh. i emailed the company about packing considerations, and if i like what they have to tell me, i will probably get it. the extra money will be worth not having to worry and fuss with all that goes with bear-bagging.

My Sierra Designs Ultra Light tent came. It a beauty. It's set up in my spare bedroom now.

and a $29 GoLite Coal Hooded coat, 1# 2oz.

Stormbringer - about that bearikade: I was going to take one on a 7 day trip but opted out cause my food would not all fit. I'm not a huge eater but your going to need calories. Just saying try 9 days worth before you buy unless you can borrow.

Stormbringer, your rope and food bag weigh 2lb 5 ounce? Holy crap dude. Use a sil nylon stuff sack (2 ounces max) and 50' of parachute cord and you are under7 ounces or so.
