“My 3/4 Thermarest I let self inflate, yet sometimes blow it up if I feel like it. I mean, it's my pad, I can do to it what I like.

And RE the LE, it does need some blowing to get it up.

When home after a hike I always let the pad self inflate, sit for a while, then deflate, then let sit for a while, then deflate, then let self inflate, etc., so any moisture built up inside will soon be expelled via this process.”

“I bought a Golite Core Polarguard vest. It looks pretty good, but it would be nicer if it had handwarmer pockets for wearing it as an outer layer. I think I'll add them myself soon.”

I made a girl a fleece pullover with zippered neck and chest pocket, and I ended up putting in side pockets for hands. I used some thin nylon for the insides but when I'd put my hands in them they felt cold. So I handsewed in fleece to the inside pockets and man did that warm up the pockets. I even made a tag that I sewed into a seam that said "w/(heart)"...you know...with love. Anyways, in the ong run, I think I scared her away.”

I plan on just making simple pockets made with taffeta nylon insulated with 200 gram thinsulate and just sewing them to the vest. That way I won't have to cut anything on the vest. I won't need zippers on them just something for cold hands.”
