Just got a new Canon A80 digital camera. I'm going out for a overnighter tomorrow with a friend...gonna take lots of Pict's and see how it works. I'm looking forward to being able to download them right to my puiter. I don't expect the quality to be as good as my SLR, but it's a lot smaller and it holds a bunch of images (256 card)

$46.20
What really sold is that the advertised price is $58.50 (reg $100), but the color and size (black/gray, M) I wanted was $38.95. I called them up to see if it was a misprint and the lady said that was the price. Even she thought it was wierd.

I can't find the thread where we talked about these (maybe it was this thread) but someone posted a link to waldie type shoes for $11. I love the Waldies, but I got these today and the fit is much better!

Twigeater - those shoes look just like the Crocs Beach shoes:

I have a pair of Crocs - and I agree very comfortable but they do tend to stick to barefeet

I'd know that dead bird anywhere, LOL I got a Delta Shearling AR jacket back in December. The pocket was slightly crooked, so Half Price! Woo Hoo!

I was in Athens yesterday so I stopped at a gear store for a few knick-knacks... stakes, 4.5v 'flat' batteries for the Petzl Arctic, AND... I found a red lens assembly for the Petzl Micro. Night Vision, Baby!

and, Of Course, a pint of sauce from Guthries........

Rock On!
My birthday isn't until March, but we were at Galyan's looking for a kayak seat for my dad and my mom said she'd buy me some boots. So I got a pair of the Merrel Chameleon XCR low cut boots! Vibram sole, 2lbs total weight, very nice. Can't wait to try them out on a day hike.

I also got a pair of the "Light Hiker" smartwool socks to go with them. I loved the Expedition pair I bought so I guessed the light hikers would be great for warmer weather.

I got the waldies last year and they are great, I used them all year, even this winter (they are almost worn out). They were passed around at HIKE MAINE II and everyone liked them.

The difference between waldies and the shoes at allheart.com is the allheart ones are not as wide or roomy - they fit closer to the foot which makes me more secure about using them for stream crossings.

Since I've got them - one with holes, one without - I've worn nothing else. The closed ones do stick to my feet (without socks) but the ones with holes don't. I imagine with socks, the closed ones would be fine.

Dub, I love smartwool socks. I wear the expedition or mountaineering weight year round. LLB factory store sells them for ~$9.

Yeah, smartwool is great. I love it! Haven't tried it in the summer yet so I look forward to that.

As for the Merrell's, they are bad ass. I've been wearing them around today to break them in...they grip the snow better than any shoe I've ever worn. Even on snow covered ice they are stable.

I Still Dig It
I got'sk my new pullover today...IN ONE WEEK FROM ORDERING (I didn't do the $1 extra for expedited shipping). Gonna have to shower and get dresses asap then take the dog for a looong walk.

It doesn't have the mesh pit gussets or the waist drawstring as stated in STP's writeup, and the gray is so gray that if it was any grayer it'd be black. Maybe that's why this was $38 instead of the advertised $58.

Primus easy light Lantern
I fitted a cartridge and lit it outside.Brought it into the basement.Luminosity comparable to
40 watt bulb. Could come in handy
in a 3 season campsite where no
fires are allowed. Rated 8 hr burn
time on a large cylinder.

My Campmor fleece pants are probably sitting on my front porch right now getting cold - arrrggghhhh! Either that or Mr. Hyde is trying them on....

Indeed, my Campmor package was waiting for me when I got home last night. Man, those fleece pants are awesome! I wore them around the house all evening! The only downside is that they pick up Mr. Hyde's shedded hair really well. Well, they are also kind of bulky - I'll really have to jam them into the pack....

I think I have the same fleece pants, BowlderMan...they are really bulky...I've got a compression stuff I use for my winter clothing load. Helps me fit everything into the pack, lol...

Just ordered a Canon S50! Should be here in 7-10 days! Picked up 4 extra batteries for it since my old ones are at about 1/4 life (I went thru 6 batteries for the Fall Canyon 3 day trip)

Picked up my Burton snowboarding gloves from REI at lunch today. . . nice because they come in women's XS.

Lost my MountainHardware Dome Perignon hat, so I just ordered another one. In the meantime, I got another hat that's cuter for around town (Mammoth)

Not exactly new gear, but Mother G's eagle eye spotted some fabric in the $1.00 bin at Wally World on Sunday.
'Come here and look at this.' says she.
'Whatcha got?' says I.

Turns out to be two partial bolts of royal purple silnylon, total of 22.5 yds. Ya-HOO!!!

My Go Lite Hex 2 shelter just showed up. Can't wait to set it up this weekend. Total pack weight is 2.94 lbs which includes poles, stakes, stuff sacks and shelter. Without the pole it weighs 2.12 lbs. Not a bad weight for a 2-3 person 4 season shelter

It's gear and it's new. But, it's not all that exciting to hear about.
What you should consider it is a good excuse to go into the gear store and dig through the clearance rack, roam the aisles and find something that qualifies as new and exciting gear. I can't believe you went in and only came out with a can of fuel. You're no gearhead Indiana John! ;)
