But it's raining and I can't set it up in the back yard now! AAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!” 5:03:15 PM 5/28/04 “Yessirreee! I got new gators. How neat... they're camo, so you're never gonna see that area of my legs and ankles. They'll just be INVISIBLE!!! ;-) They are neoprene, I think, and fairly short. They're meant to keep ticks, chiggers and dirt out of boots. Nothing too fancy. Best of all, I got them on sale at Wal-Mart, a close-out. They were **$4.25!!!** I found the website for the company that makes them. Listed at $13.25 on there. Oh yeah...and they're Mossy Oak "Break-Up" pattern. LOL!! (Or maybe I'll just turn them inside out so they're...... --shudder-- just plain TAN!! Here they are!!!” 1:32:39 AM 5/31/04 “Good score Liz !” 9:50:57 AM 5/31/04 “Got some TNF trail runners last Friday, and while I was there I found a nice Lowe Alpine jacket for my wife. Waterproof with removable liner. Heavy though, definitely a winter jacket even without the liner. Had been $200, was on sale for $89.” 12:27:11 PM 6/01/04 lizs, lizs, lizs.... “Which raises another question: Would 'gator skin make a good gaiter?” 1:10:45 PM 6/01/04 “Hot and Heavy” 1:11:43 PM 6/01/04 “"dry and a necessity"” 1:14:31 PM 6/01/04 “You're just jealous, Stovey, about my NEW GATORS!!! (p.s. I think "gaiters" are fox trottin' horses or sumthin') OK, back to my cubicle. I hate holiday weekends, workwise!!” 5:39:50 PM 6/01/04 “As of course gait has nothing to do with walking ;o)” 5:41:46 PM 6/01/04 Here it is.... 11:32:45 PM 6/02/04 “Damn! I hope it's for car camping ;-)” 11:46:25 PM 6/02/04 “lol, yes, I've backpacked with less weight than that thing weighs.” 11:47:51 PM 6/02/04 “I was gonna say...if it's for backpacking...you earn the title of HumanPackMule.” 11:59:50 PM 6/02/04 “Nice and roomy though...really looking forward to breaking it in this weekend.” 12:01:48 AM 6/03/04 “Cool, let me know how it works...I always wanted a $350 tent.” 12:12:03 AM 6/03/04 “Got it on sale for $260....yessssssss....” 12:19:56 AM 6/03/04 “Used my new REI HalfDome 2 this weekend in Southern Ohio. It survived torrential downpours, tons of lightening, golf-ball sized hail, and a tornado. OK, so the forecasted tornado and hail didn't actually hit us... but it was a few miles away, I swear! There really was lots of lightening and rain, tho. Seriously - this tent rocks. There were two of us in the tent and we had plenty of room. It has two doors, two equally-sized vestibules (9.6 sq ft each, plenty of room for my pack and shoes)and a nifty little window from which to watch the heavy rains and lightening. All for under 5 1/2 lbs. When I bought it, it was on sale so I only spent $110. I think it was a fantastic deal for a great freestanding two-person tent. I also wore my new Asolo Xenon Ventilated Leather trail shoes. Very very comfy. They were tremendously comfy. I'll report more on them after my next big trip in a couple weeks.” 11:08:27 AM 6/03/04 “There is only one HPM.” 11:18:36 AM 6/03/04 “Nike T40 15 degree fiarway wood. ![]() Snake Eyes MCS-2 Putter Taylor Made 320 Ti 12 degree regular flex. ”10:53:23 AM 6/04/04 “Just got back from lunch and picked up..... Granite Gear air-line stuff sacks whoa nelly how cool are these .9 oz for the #5 6.5" x 16.5" got a #6 also and a compression sack BONUS - they come in these little plastic jars perfect for kitchen or toiletry storage. Oh, and of course I can't get out of Moosejaw without several other purchases. I'll spare you the gorey details. And Tara....Yeah the half-dome rocks. Next time they're on sale I'm thinking of getting another one as back up to old faithful.” 11:52:52 AM 6/04/04 “I've never had such good gear and done so little backpacking. I just bought a Western Mountaineering down sleeping bag with 4" of loft, and it weighs 1 lb 8 oz! Wow! Can't wait to try it out. Next, a McHale pack, custom made, very light and durable, and pricey.” 4:18:35 PM 6/04/04 MSR... “outfitter wing...this thing is so WAY COOL...now I can be just like Dutch Oven Dave.” 10:35:53 AM 6/07/04 “New Marmot Precip pants with the FULL zip .... I'll have my base weight under 10 lbs in no time. I won't be hiking, I'll be strollin!” 3:21:19 PM 6/21/04 “Kewl Beans, currahee! That's the pack I use the most along with my GoLite 'Day' pack. Just be sure not to go over 20 pounds total with it. Then it becomes a pain in your shoulders.” 3:24:48 PM 6/21/04 “I just got a cabana from campmor to use with the kidlets on the beach and stuff, woohoo!” 3:30:24 PM 6/21/04 “I remember your setup from the Fiery Gizzard trip and thought It would work for me, And after humping an Army Ruck for years, i have a different level of respect for pain in the shoulders.” 3:35:42 PM 6/21/04 “umm, StoveStomper that is.” 3:40:02 PM 6/21/04 “Leki Ultralite Ti, trekking poles. I bought it at EMS last July. All I wanted was a new tent pole, but the manager wanted me to go thru the repair process. I didn't want to do that since I want to use the tent this weekend. I wanted them to swap one out, then THEY could wait for the repair process. I mentioned that I was told they had the same policy as LLB. They said they wanted me to be satisfied, so to bring the whole tent in for a new one! great service!” 3:27:28 PM 6/24/04 “I tried my new jetboil last weekend Gem. Loved it!” 3:33:43 PM 6/24/04 $65 Total “I ordered me a pair of LOWE ALPINE MOUNTAIN GLOVES from STP. And I think I got the last OUTDOOR RESEARCH HADRON LIGHTWEIGHT PERFORMANCE JACKET in gray. "WB17" is a code to get %10 off orders under $100, and it'll get you %20 off orders over $100.” 3:43:37 PM 6/26/04 Oh Yeah... “...and the code is good till 10pm tommorrow (Sun) night.” 3:44:54 PM 6/26/04 Looky what I just ordered 1:09:33 PM 7/02/04 “Sweet!” 1:11:13 PM 7/02/04 “Hey I blew out my sleepy pad on teh Dolly Sods trip so I picked up the new Therma Rest Pro Lite 3 (short). Weight: 13 ozs! 20 inches by 47 inches and 1 inch thick. Folds and rolls to 11 x 4! I love it!” 1:38:05 PM 7/02/04 “Did you poke a hole in it or what, Roam?” 1:41:13 PM 7/02/04 Roam “I'm in the market for a new sleep pad also, seems like the Pro Lite series is the way to go, according to all the reviews I've read. let us know how it works out.” 2:37:59 PM 7/03/04 “Treebait just got me a Prolite 4 Reg. It's pretty sweet, I'm going to break in next week in the Boundary Waters. Going canoeing for a week. Love ya dear.” 3:11:52 PM 7/03/04 I love my new gear “I got some new stuff for which I posted a review on the Alaska thread. Here's the cut and paste... Gear Reviews Asolo Xenon Venilated Leather Hiking Shoes - Broke them in w/ a dayhike a few weeks before the trip. That was it. This girl was blister free after 40+ miles on the trail. Wooo Hooo. Very lightweight and comfy. Nothing too technical or fancy. But, they seemed to do the trick. My pack was pretty heavy at the beginning of this trip and my feet held up fine. Big Agnes REM Insulated Air Core sleeping pad - Didn't need the insulation on this trip (it's PrimaLoft, if ya care). But, for 21 oz and 2 1/2" of pad, I took this along for it's maiden voyage. Slept extremely comfortably every night. Even on wood platforms in the cabin. Much more comfy then my foam pad/ultralite combo and weighs less. Awesome pad. The only drawback is that it's not self-inflating. But, well worth the few extra breaths it takes to blow it up. Oh, yeah, and it packs really small. iRiver iFP300 MP3 player - Too lazy to find a link... I love having this along. People in Alaska stay up late when the sun is shining into the weeee hours of the night. So, when we were in crowded campgrounds, or when we were alone and I crashed early (which was most, if not every night), this came in handy to drown out background noise. Besides, I just love to have music with me. This is great. Just the right size to hold jus the right number of songs. You can set up folders for the songs, too. Just don't forget to hit the "hold" button when you go to sleep. This button locks the keys so you can't accidently press things when you toss and turn. I forgot that a couple times and woke up hearing the same song over and over and over... lol” 1:32:08 PM 7/04/04 “Tara - Thanks for your reviews! I'm currently in the market for a pad and the one you listed is one of two I'm looking at. How do you think it would compair to this: http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?productId=47777903&storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&langId=-1” 2:32:25 PM 7/04/04 Jump to Page << prev
