Here's my new GEAR!!!

900,000 Volts
3-1/4"L x 2"W x 3/4"D
Safety Button
Lifetime Warranty

Streetwise mini stun gun comes with a remarkable 900,000 volts stun power. It is the world's highest voltage stun gun available on the market. This powerful stun gun can go through 2" inches of clothing. Just test firing this unit into the air is often enough to stop an attacker. As the bright electric current pulsates between the test prongs and creates an intimidating electrical sound, an attacker with any sense at all will be stopped in his tracks. If the sight and sound doesn't stop him a jolt from this unit certainly will! This is the power you can truly rely on.

It can literally fit in a cigarettes box.

Touching an assailant for:

less than 1 second will cause minor muscle contractions and have a repelling effect.

1-2 seconds will cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state.

3-5 will cause loss of balance and muscle control and total mental confusion and disorientation leaving him dazed.

So I tried it out WOW it's very loud! It would scare the heck out of me if I was possibly going to be on the receiving end. But of course criminals are not known for their sense.

My wife went off the reservation and tried to buy me backpacking gear. I normally tell all friends and family NOT to try and buy me backpacking gear because it's like buying someone a puppy, best left to the owner. So what do I open? A complete set of Snow Peak Ti solo pots, spork, plate and mug! She asked if I liked it and that I could send it back if I didn't like it. I told her she got the one I've always been lusting for and she couldn't have done better. The mug's going back and the plate will only go when she does . I love it!

I got my oldest son a 30 degree down bag for Christmas. He is seriously pumped. He has a little bivy tent I got him for his birthday that he camps in in the backyard. It's in a small stuff sack. He opened up the sleeping bag and said, "Another tent?" because the bag was so small. He came unglued when he realized it was a sleeping bag like dads. He opened the rest of his gifts sitting in the bag on the couch. Funny.

Got to love Christmas money. I took a trip to EMS last night looking for a down jacket. I had been eyeing the EMS Glacier Jacket for a while and it was on sale for $75. When I was trying on the down jacket, I spotted another jacket, the EMS Base Camp Jacket. The Base Camp uses PrimaLoft insulation. I liked the idea of it being synthetic because I wouldn’t have to worry as much about putting the jacket on if I’m sweaty, plus it had an insulated hood which the down jacket didn’t have. The downside is the jacket is about 6 ounces heavier and it probably isn’t quite as warm. What sold me on it was the fact that the jacket will zip into my hard shell jacket giving me a waterproof winter jacket, that and the fact that it was marked down to $70 from it’s original $125. Hopefully it will work well for me.

I just spent almost $400 at REI!!!
Good thing I had that $250 in gift cards - whew!

Key items: REI down vest, Sporthill XC ski pants, Merrill lightweight dayhiking-type boots, lots of little odds 'n' ends....

I did NOT buy a pocket rocket, which was on sale for 30 bucks.

Another item I got last night was a set of these parachute thingees to use instead of tent stakes in the snow. They're pretty lightweight. You just put some snow in 'em and bury 'em. I also picked up a couple of metal snow stakes. I figure I'll use the parachute thingees on the corners (REI Half Dome +2 tent) and the stakes as deadmen for the vestibule flaps. I've used my skis to stake down the flaps before, but then you can't really leave your tent for the day. I had to switch to this system because I won't have many (any) twigs to use as deadmen when I go to the Yukon in a few months. Should get some practice setting up the ol' tent in foul weather this weekend in Yosemite!

reminds me of the song by Manfred Mann:

_Blinded by the Light_

[Chorus]: Blinded by the light
revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night (fading)

Madman dummers bummers,
Indians in the summer,
With a teenager diplomat
And the dumps with the mumps
As the adolescent pumps his way into his hat

With a boulder my shoulder,
feeling kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin,
the calliope crashed to the ground
(pickup)
the calliope crashed to the ground

(chorus)

Some silicon sister with a manager mister
told me I go what it takes.
I'll run you on sonny to something strong
play the song with the funky break

And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the
weather charts see if it was safe outside
And little Early Burly came by in his curly wurly
and asked me if i needed a ride
(pickup)
asked me if i needed a ride

(chorus)

Bridge: She got down but she never got tired
She's gonna make it to the night
She's gonna make it through the night

(break with soul-stirring solo)

Oh momma that's where the fun is
But momma that's where the fun is
Momma always told me not to look
in the eye's on the sun
But momma that's where the fun is

(chop sticks variation)

So brimstone-baritone, anti-cyclone Rolling Stone
Preacher from the East,
says dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in it's funny bone
thats what they expect at least

It's a new grown chaperon standing in the corner
watching the young girls dance
and some fresh sown moonstone messing with his frozen zone,
only reminding him of romance
(pickup)
and the calliope crashed to the ground

(Chorus)

(Chorus and First Verse)

Now Scott with the sling-shot finally found a tender spot
and throws his lover in the sand
and some blood-shot forget-me-not
said Daddy's within earshot, save the buck-shot, turn up the band

(repeat Verse 2 "Silicon sister with a manager....")
(bridge)
