Yes. I'm going to the BWCA this fall with a buddy and we're sharing a tent also. I wonder what the ventilations like? LOL!

Too bad the mesh isn't on top, just to make it alittle harder for Honey to destroy it. Good deal Nigal!

my tarptent came today. Wow, how light! I think I am gonna love it.

I also ordered me a pair of REI pants. I am impressed, they look supercool [which never happens] and they are great.

I think they will be my favorite pair. I may have to order me a couple more.

Now I got to get started and seamseal the tarpent so I can use it in a couple of weeks.

just bought a tarptent squall with the sewn-in floor and extended beak. i might have gotten it from one of you people for all i know! anyway, i have the virga but the squall has more space and is only a little heavier... and for $90 it was impossible to pass up. i'll prolly pass the virga down to my oldest son. he is well on the road to being an ultralight hiker and this would make one hell of a birthday gift this summer!

My Mountain Hardware Haven 3 finally came yesterday afternoon. I had to set it up in the living room cause it was raining. This thing is HUGE! The walls are nice and straight up and down too. I had the wife, the dog and one of the cats in there. LOL! Two doors and two vestibules with room for three for about 5 ˝ pounds.

I picked up a pair of Merrell Pulse's yesterday. They were on clearance for $44.00, normaly $85.00. I haven't used them hiking yet, does anyone know about this shoe's performance on the trail?

Vargo Triad Titanium Alcohol/Fuel Tab Stove
Vargo Titanium Non-Stick pot

trying most of it out this weekend. well only one tent of course. Not sure if I'll like the sling-light. I having real issues hooking it onto my pack. seams like it's in the way constantly. it's comfortable though. I just don't like stuff sticking out of my pack.

New Gear Rocks!
Quite a collection of new gear, G. Looking forward to your gear reviews.

I used my 20% and divident and bought mountaineering boots for the next ice climbing season. I've been wearing them around the house to make sure I like the fit. So far, I think they're keepers.

I scored a new $300 Kitchen Aid mixer for $75! I'll never need another mixer as long as I live.

how did you do that DnB? Can I buy it from you for $100? My wife and my (however you say that - "my wife and mies?") anniversary is tommorow, I think she'd love it.

You'd make 25% profit.

What color is it?

Is it used?

Can you deliver it?

My friend had one and something broke on it just before Christmas. She sent it back and didn't think they were going to do anything with it because of the age of it so she bought a new. A few weeks later she got a new one in the mail from Kitchen Aid. She's had it sitting around cause no one wanted it so she gave it to us for $75.

I found a pasta maker/meat grinder/slicer kit that attaches to the front for another $75.

Check Ebay. There's one there with 2 hours left on it for $165 free shipping.

EMS Sale
I don't know if people usually shop at EMS. I do once in a while. Anyway they are having a pretty good sale. The highest price item you purchase is 20% off. The 2nd and 3rd highest price items are 15% off.

http://www.ems.com/

Note: This is only good for online purchase. In store the rules are different. Their shipping rates are VERY fair if you ask me.

Finally broke down and forked over 40 bucks for a Pocket Rocket. It'll save me about a pound or so of weight compared to my Whisperlite. Trying it out this weekend in Emigrant!

Also found a "bucket." I think it's called The Pocket Bucket (3 or 4 oz., I think). No more crouching next to whatever mosquito factory I get water from - heck, I can filter water inside my tent if I want!

Thanks for reminding me, I need to get Laurel fitted for a new pair of boots. She already outgrew hers. I think they lasted 8 months.

Yeah! BowlderSon has a new pair of boots. It seems like the kids' boots are a lot more forgiving than grownups', so it they don't usually require much breaking in. He'll do a little walking around this week and they'll be fine.

Also, forgot to mention I got BowlderSon a new pad: a Z-lite just like mine. Seems he kind of outgrew the shorter pad, now that he's almost 5-frickin'-feet tall!

There is a dude selling a green spectra Ursack on the backpackinglight.com forum for 35 bucks + 5 shipping. Just FYI in case anyone is looking for one. It's the old green spectra material, not the new material they started to make the bags out of when they couldn't get the spectra anymore because of the war in Iraq.

AH just got my latest order of food from Enertia Trail foods.... just noticed they have a measurement scale on the package...how accurate is that?

For backpacking food you really cannot beat it. Granted I have yet to find a good breakfast food (freeze dried eggs) but I am working on it.
