Hot glue won't stick either unless it's the super industrial type. It peals right off eventually.

right - hot glue works really really well on porous material, but on plastic it peels free quickly - especially if it gets cold.

get some REAL epoxy not the cheap stuff... a good slow cure epoxy knows what permanent means. hobby stores have the stuff. i recommend z-poxy 30 minute resin.

Lol...that was my first thought...duct tape!!

On a more serious note...Yogi's right...get some good epoxy and some industrial strength velcro and you won't have to worry about it coming off...

yes! tango, you are my kind of hiker! of course as a climber I believe you can solve any problem with a carabiner. as a campground owner i am thinking you feel the same way about duct tape.

Whoo-hoo!
I recently did some work for one of my nieces. In the basement was an Eddie Bauer backpack that had belonged to her recently deceased pa-in-law (pronounced paw-in-law). I mentioned it to her husband when he and I did our first walk-thru.

My last day there, my niece presented me with the pack and it's contents. It was like Christmas March! I immediately dropped what I was doing and dumped the contents onto the newly installed carpet. Withmongst was a what's what of a newbys gear collection: Gaz stove and fuel cannister, stainless mug, iodine bottles, fire starter sticks, hand-held flashlight that converts to a headlamp, etc. I flashed-back to 1998 when I returned home from Sports Authority with my starter kit. It was fun.

I plan to use the pack on my next hike. I will pack the relatively heavy stove on easy hikes so's to conserve my MSR fuel cannisters.

I now have some eight-or-so packs ranging from a large Mountainsmith to a hydration pack.

One of the things that always surprises me is how fast I get stuff from REI when I order online. I ordered something on monday and on wednesday its already been sent out by UPS for delivery. And this is on regular ground delivery from REI. I guess it helps that I live in Portland and they send it from Seattle.. but it is still cool I get it so fast. :-)

Went to REI on Friday May 8th to get fitted for and hopefully purchase that new REI Flash 65 pack. Got there after work and measured 18 in. for my torso length which fit into the mid range for the medium torso pack (17-19 in.) But they were on backorder and not expected to have any till June 8th. They only had 2 of the long or large torso packs and I nabbed the display model and it fit perfectly! It will fit 18-20 in. torsos so it was ok after all. Another person asked for the other large and they couldn't find it so I got the last one. I did let the salesman fit it for the other customer as I shopped around, but I got there just in time to get the last one!

32oz.. I used to have the REI QD (the original 2 person they have at the outlet) and while it was a good tent too, it was tight for two and a bit heavy for one.

Gossamer Gear Murmur, on its way! Should have my Epic Nunatak Arc Specialist in a couple weeks. Thinking about ordering a MLD Super Mid too? now that I've sold the Hilleberg.

Why'd you sell the hilleberg? I used my Nallo II GT this weekend and it poured for one whole day straight. I was reminded why I bought it.

I bought a Kaitum 2 primarily for winter usage, but I've recently decided to cut back on winter trips. The Kaitum 2 was HUGE at over 13' long. I never even used the tent either, so, I didn't see a point in letting it get any older, getting even less money for it, down the road.
The person I sold it to, got a great unused tent at a great price.
I might get a MLD Super Mid, which is a 8'.75" X 8'.75" Square pyramid style shelter.(22-23oz) I now primarily use tarps, as well.

Yah, that is a drawback to the tunnel tents, especially if they have a big vestibule: the footprint is large and so you have to pitch it in pretty open locales.

It was overkill for the few winter trips I may take in a season, plus when you consider my location and trip duration too.
I've found the beauty in ski-to, backcountry rental cabins. Stocked with hardwood, and woodstove, ahhh!!! Yeah, I'm getting soft!

i ordered 5 new camalot c4 cams... on sale. sizes .5, .75, 1, 2 and 3. they ran me 254 which is steep but fair.

These are doubles and triples in some cases. My cams look like they were bought at a garage sale... Wales, Trango, Omega Pacific, Metolius. Black Diamond... a little bit of everything. I am had pressed to pick a favorite, but then again I did double-down on the bd c4s... i like that thumb loop thing and the camming action is way smooth.

i added a bd c4 size 4 last year and i have a metolious of about the same size that is a LOT older but still in great shape. I thought about getting a 5 but I am betting I would never use it. I may get a big bro or two instead but that is years out.

I've got a used pre-C4 #1 on the way from a guy in Seattle. !! that'll give me doubles in #1 - I find 1 - 3 very usefull. I carry a full set of BD cams and used the Mastercams to create doubles in the green, purple, blue and silver sizes.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a 5 and even a 6 for some of the wide stuff but dam, they 'spensive!

Your gonna have a rack suitable for Indian Creek there Yogi!! I'll meet ya there sometime!
