Story is breaking asa we speak
Two or three men have been arrested for unauthorized entrance to the Williamsburg Bridge that connects Brooklyn and Manhattan over the East River. Auto and train traffic are now suspended as the NYPD is checking out suspicious packages that the men left on the bridge span. Apparently, they repelled themselves off the bridge after leaving the packages and encountering bridge workers. the men are being questioned and the other East River spans are being checked also. That would include the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Bomb squads are en route to check out the situation...

Most of the police activity is now on the Manhattan side of the bridge as well as police boats gathering on the river. No traffic going over the bridge. The police on the Manhattan side are getting out the bomb sniffing dogs and apparently getting ready to check out the packages...

Nobody was found dangling by his foot from the bridge...

That is true and you said that they reppeled off the bridge, that would take knowledge.

Now they are saying that the men are of Middle Eastern descent. They are now unsure about the certainty of the fact that packages were left or that they repelled off the bridge. The fact remains that the men entered the Willy B unauthorized, which started the whole process going...

Wow, they have now stopped traffic over the Manhattan Bridge. I can see the bomb squad walking over the bridge slowly and checking for packages as a police van and the rest of the traffic inches slowly behind them...

Take care, you New Yawkers. Wouldn't want anything to happen to you.

My bridge too. How dare they? I will sue them! I bought that bridge twice, and though I let people use it, don't want anybody blowing it up. Who knows, I may need it again some day!

Hey, what are friends for, Lt? :)

As of now, the police presence is huge! The helicopters, boats and ground units are out on droves. They are grilling these three idiots and looking for any presence of incendiary materials with dogs, etc. Hopefully, it will be all for naught. Better outcome than it being real bombs...

With some of the news that I hear about on this site, it makes me realize how much they are not really talking about. I guess they don't want people to panic over nothing.

great our company can not get any del. into the city. yes I love mu job.

last week we had one of our trucks pulled over and searched. The problem was, that on the bill of lading it read that there were 2 drums of raw INK.
But on the truck there was only 1 drum. (drum=400lbs)
so theY went nuts on the poor guy, I had to make a million calls to find out what the heck happened to the other drum.

bottom line?

OPPS!!

It ended up being a misprint.

But it took most of the day to get our guy into the city.

OK, the truth is in!
You won't believe this! They just revealed the story behind this. The three men had been out drinking all night and decided to climb the tower of the Williamsburg Bridge. I am not kidding. This just came in as the official word. These guys just cost this city a semi-panic situation, probably cost a lot of money and a lot of folks who cant't conduct business or get to work. No bungee jumpers though. Hey, I'm no stranger to drunken fun, but climbing the tower of the Willy B after an all night bender is definitely over the top....

Damn! And I just called my broker to move my money out of Boots and Koots (now that the Iraqi oil wells are under control) and into one of the big bridge building firms. Guess I have to call ‘em back.

LOL lizs,

I just had one of our verndors call me to ask if I heard the news. I said yes and that I could not understand how someone could propel off a bridge.

He laughed at me and so did I, becasue it was pretty funny.

Thank you, Lizs. I had a feeling I spelled that wrong. And I am also a stickler for spelling things correctly. It actually bothers me when I run across a word I don't know how the spell.

Headlines....
Drunk idiots stall traffic in Americas Largest City.
So, did the cops find those guys? Or was it more like some passing motorist seen them and called, but the cops didn't get there until after the drunks had left.

Don't ever question why people live in NY again, after seeing this headline.

Sometimes this makes it all worth it.

Apparently, they were spotted by bridge workers and confronted when they tried to climb the tower. That's when they scurried and were caught shortly thereafter...
