Need info!
Just learned of this trip, would love to try to make it. Can anyone provide any info...there's nothing listed on the "Trips" page I can find.

Thanks!

Wanderer, contact Ldhiker at sredfield@cox.net

This is going to be a great trip with a great bunch of people. I was forced to cancel, but hope you can make it. Good luck.

There is a description in the trails section:

http://www.thebackpacker.com/trails/az/trail_583.php

I did this trip a few years ago and will probably do it again this year. From Surprise Valley you can head west to the Deer Creek area also.

If you start at the Thunder River trailhead, the hike in/out is longer but less steep.

This hike is also described in The Falcon Guide 'Hiking Grand Canyon National Park'.

Happy Trails

PS I think there are pictures of this area on Snow Nymph's web page.

Snow Nymph, I'm three weeks post surgery and beginning to feel better. A few setbacks, but no real complications. I'll e-mail.

The trip is April 10 on the rim. We will be out for four nights.

hey Mary, you already know what my question will be ... is the trail solid enough for me to bring the little guy? mt map shows a few spots that look very steep but a map can't tell the whole story. i probably can't make it, but if the trail is better than, say, Grandview i might be able to wrangle my brother into coming with me...

Nope--hate to burst a bubble :) but this is not a trail for babies. Some parts are worse than Grandview.

thanks, Mary. i'll just have to say "aw, shucks" and find someplace a little closer to home.

Just to clarify:

Gather at the rim April 10, go in the canyon April 11, out on the 15th.
