Comin' To Jesus About Stuff

“I had an experience this last weekend which frustrated me to no end. I wondered if anyone has ever had a similar one. I took my sister to some areas of extreme natural beauty and had hoped she would enjoy them. She is out of shape and overweight. It would be very beneficial for her to learn to enjoy outdoors and get up out of the house more. Took her to see these places and she was totally unimpressed. She said "oh thats.. nice." with that tone which lets one know... Ain't wid it, ain't wid it. I gave up. Took her home. I had to accept the facts that she is simply not concerned with outdoors or ANYTHING in the natural world, beautiful or not. I will now have to go back to these areas to visit them alone or with someone who does like outside. How disappointing and sad to me. The only consolation from it all is that I can go back and see it when I can fully enjoy it. I guess things could be worse. I could BE that way myself. ackk!”

It climbs 2000' in a little over a mile. The last 200 yards IS (!!!) straight up, using whatever means possible to ascend a rocky waterfall face.”

Last time she got so sick that she vomited already in the car, then on the trail...

For some strange reason she can walk like a maniac in malls and amusement parks.

Not sure if she will change with age, 10 years ago I wasn't even thinking about hiking/backpacking, but I was never totally oposed by it either. My dad is "German hiker", he can walk like crazy. But German hiking is a totally different story. I can't understand how they can hike 10 miles without a sip of water.

I've always loved outside. While back at my folks house in Va. this trip I took a picture of my two favorite fence crossing spots in snow. I'll get them posted. I got more whoopins put on me for going to the woods without telling anyone. Poor Daddy would be standing there waiting at my crossing spot. I was never sorry I went...... just sorry I got caught. Never was concerned about it. He didn't understand that I was an expert fence climber and that was my job.”

I am happy for my Mom and sister to go to their Home Interior Parties, Tupperware Parties, Doll Club, Sewing circle, etc. Leave me out of it. I am NOT and doubt that I'll ever be Garden Club material or fit into the DAR etc. I've gotten dressed up a time or two to try, but my bushy tail keeps drooping down below the hem of my skirt. LOL”
