Phrases like, "Saddam will win, we will spill your blood", "Dig up you rotten rubbish..." and a Swastika was spray painted on some headstones.

The French govt' fu_ked up...they should've kept a close eye on the cemeteries.”

I didn't say I have a low opinion of the French police, but I know how those types of investigations go, and the solvability factors are close to zero to begin with, unless the can is discarded nearby with prints on it, or someone happened to witness the event. It's a shame it happened, but without some evidence other than the paint on the tombstones, it's going to take an eyewitness or someone bragging about it at the wrong time.

Is it that a lot of French are ignorant? Do they think the US has become too arrogant? It’s a big step from, “I am going to voice my opposition because I don’t like what you believe in”, to “I want you to die because of what you believe in.”

As for why there aren’t a lot of other slurs that’s pretty easy. We haven’t helped the Chinese, the Germans, or the Russians nearly as much as we’ve helped the French. We’re not really sure whether the Chinese or the Russians are our friends. We have had most favored nation trade status with the French for quite some time. There’s nothing quite so ugly as when a supposed friend turns on you.

The French didn’t help us when we bombed Libya. They obstructed us during the first Gulf War. They have contracts with Iraq in defiance of UN sanctions. So do the Chinese and so do the Russians. But these other countries haven’t had the close ties that we’ve enjoyed with the French.

You want bias, Tilt? Read BIAS by Bernard Goldberg. It’s one of the greatest pieces of self-examination that I’ve ever read by a “liberal.” Turns out that Mr. Goldberg (who considers himself a liberal and has never voted for a Republican presidential candidate) has a lot to say about many of the clueless, bigoted hypocrites who call themselves “liberals.” It should be required reading for you. But then again, self-examination has never been a “liberal” strongpoint.

Being lucky enough to live in a college town, I got to see Bill Clinton speak for free yesterday. Fascinating man with many good ideas.
