QUICK POLITICAL SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST
This test consists of one (1) multiple-choice question.

Here's a list of the countries and dates that the U.S. has
bombed
since the end of World War II, compiled by historian
William Blum:

China 1945-46
Korea 1950-53
China 1950-53
Guatemala 1954
Indonesia 1958
Cuba 1959-60
Guatemala 1960
Congo 1964
Peru 1965
Laos 1964-73
Vietnam 1961-73
Cambodia 1969-70
Guatemala 1967-69
Grenada 1983
Libya 1986
El Salvador 1980s
Nicaragua 1980s
Panama 1989
Iraq 1991-2003
Sudan 1998
Afghanistan 1998
Yugoslavia 1999
Afghanistan 2001

In how many of these instances did a democratic
government,
respectful of human rights, occur as a direct result?
Choose one of the
following:

(b) zero
(c) none
(d) not a one

Didn't South Korea continue to exist after our involvement. All of the following are Democratic/Constitutional republics: Panama, El Salvador, Peru, Guatemala, Yugoslavia(now serbia and montenegro), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia, Grenada, and Nicaragua.
Afghanistan is in a transitional government period that will be directed towards a democratic system.

Cambodia is also has a democratic goverment based around a monarchy. And we never waged wars or actions against Cambodia and Laos, we had operations in their territory against the Viet Cong, kinda a big difference.

So that brings the answer to 11...or takes 2 off the list

Thanks for your info., Opie. BUt i want you to read the question a bit closer. "...as a direct result..."
We do not have to "Wage war", as you put it, against someone to bomb them, obviously. And, i have been to four of those countries you claim we put Democracy into. I will believe it when i see it.

By direct result do you mean? 10:00am bombs drop
10:01am bombs hit
10:05am Country changes entire governmental procedures and becomes 100% democratic

Things take time and have avenues to travel. But if they are of a democratic nature now...i'm betting a few K's of TNT helped a bit

Setting up a democratic form of government was not the intended purpose in many instances listed above.

How about a list of attacks on us just to see what it looks like?

Include the Pueblo, KAL 007, Twin Towers, Iran hostages, embassy bombings, etc.

i wondered how long it would take someone to mention attacks on the US.

those comments ALMOST aren't worth answering. The death tolls are not even comparable in MOST cases.

punkjumper..you just show up to post one sided half truths or do you actually backpack, do you benefit from the freedom the USA provides you to post anything you want also?..I think yes, and you accept the death tolls of any americans?...what if you were next...what if it was your family..i know the same is true for the pple we bombed..but we're not them are we

I agree, and AM thankful for the freedoms that i have here. As far as half-truths go, let me know what you're foggy on.

"...we're not them are we"... that talk is just what is wrong with this country. THERE IS NO REASON WE SHOULD BE BOMBING THESE PEOPLE!!!!! they have just as much right to live as we do. do they not? you say that "we're not them". i say "we are." we are all humans who have just as much a right to live as the next human. i think (my opinion, of course) that people here in the US forget that, or maybe just don't think about it at all. these are people, with families, and friends, and dreams. And i don't think any one of us wants to die by warfare.

This war is on...and i hope that is is over quickly, and that the people whos' families and friends we have killed can overcome the adversity which we have put upon them. Iraqi's will have killed Americans with families here that have to deal with the death of their loved ones as well. It all sucks, but the point i am trying to make is that everyone deserves to live if they are alive now. reguardless of nationality. (i apologize if i wasn't clear. sometimes i can't type as fast as my brain spits out words.)

p.s. OPIE come on...have we stooped to insulting one-another's hiking escapades. If you REALLY must know i do backpack. i will be in backwoods Denali for a month er so this summer if you want to come along. i am actually hitting every major Nat. Park west of Kansas, and 3 provinces in CA.
