The good ole USA is currently doing all but #5!!! 1. We have WMD 2. We have folks imprisoned for political views (see Guantanmo Bay) 3. We sponsor terrorism (se our Delta Force, and/or the CIA special force operations groups that are operating around the globe) 4. We don't need to invade our stinking neighbors (althoug we ahve Hati, grenda, Panama) we can support invasions across entire oceans!! 5. We might have this nailed if we get Tarp Rat to leave! 6. Talk to any muslim in the country right now. Report on NPR last night about the FBI investigations of the Islamic communitys. Heck . . talk to the Japanese (WWII Internment) 7. HECK man . . Texas has killed a couple of hundred by itself in the past couple of years. Retards, foreign nationals, underage . .whatever . . .we'll are equal opportunity killers 8. We support numerous regimes that do these things. Let's start with our support of Nicargua, Pinochet, Taliban during the Russian invasion, Iran, Iraq . .heck our current support for the terrorist state of Israel. If Tarp leaves for canada we are 8 FOR 8 BAYBEEEEE!!!” 4:18:39 PM 4/09/03 “HOORAY for TEXAS” 4:21:45 PM 4/09/03 “jf -- Don't get me wrong . . .I didn't say any of these things are bad per se . . . If WE do them its O.K. We KNOW what is right and wrong (especially with a born again fundementalist christian as president (yay!!). It isn't the U.S.A. that anyone has to worry about. It is the OTHER folks who do the things on the list. Its . ..dare I say it . . .its THEM not US.” 4:27:57 PM 4/09/03 “Hell..........it's always them, not us” 5:08:20 PM 4/09/03 “Hey, I never said there wasn't room for improvement in our behavior.” 5:11:07 PM 4/09/03 “I don't think too many would label a Methodist as fundamentalist. The United Methodist Church is actually one of the more open and tolerant of the Protestant denominations.” 5:11:25 PM 4/09/03 “W is Methodist, I left that out. I'm Methodist and have actually drank a beer WITH my minister. Not too many fundamentalist crack open a cold one. At a Sunday School Christmas party the teacher (a lady around 70) was asked if she would have a problem if we opened a bottle of wine and she didn't. A guy said "Well, I think it comes down to WWJD, what would Jesus drink? Wine!"” 5:14:18 PM 4/09/03 “Here in Idaho you never invite a Mormon to go fishing with you. He'll drink up all your beer. What you have to do is invite two Mormons, so neither of them will drink any beer. Works every time!” 5:23:18 PM 4/09/03 “We have the same joke in Alabama, but with Southern Baptist. A few more are: You can tell when a Baptist is loosening up because he'll say hey to you in the liquor store. Do you know why Baptist won't have sex standing up? People might think they're dancing. Both of those are from the Soutern humorist, Lewis Grizzard.” 5:34:48 PM 4/09/03 “The left wingers will babble on and on about meaningless crap, because it makes them feel better.” 7:46:53 PM 4/09/03 “"Hyway, I am questioning this from the ground up... it's so easy to label people as terrorist when they are really fighting the only way they can because everthing has been taken away from them. If they had the weapons the US has, they wouldn't resort to the these tactics, but they have to, because it's the only way they can fight for their cause. I don't see this as terrorism, I see this as war!" Tarp Rat 03:33:56 PM 04/09/03 You consider intentionally bombing school children on a bus a legitimate tactic of war? Bombing night clubs war? Flying commercial airliners into civilian buildings fighting for your cause? So if I were a logger, then you would have no problem with me taking potshots at thruhikers because I was mad that I couldn't log along the AT.” 7:56:46 PM 4/09/03 “hyway - tear it up. One futher on that note--- Is it cool for granolas to plant spikes in the trees that loggers cut down, knowing full well the the saw blade will shear apart and injure the logger? ---I guess it just depends on what war we fight for that justifies what means we are willing to full fill.” 9:57:17 PM 4/09/03 “I now remember why I don't eat potatOES, they may be from Hedaho.” 10:28:15 PM 4/09/03 “Hmmmmm... I've never spiked a tree, but I've nearly been run off the road by logging trucks coming or going to a trailhead more times than I care to remember. More than 15 times in the last 20 years, I think. Simple Negligence? I don't know. After the first half dozen, one begins to wonder.” 12:53:49 AM 4/10/03 Success.... “Hey, you guys watched the news lately? "Operation Free Iraq" have been a success...Iraqis are dancing in the streets of Bagdad. They even pulled down a couple of SoDamn Insane's statues.” 1:12:15 AM 4/10/03 “Well, YEE HAAW! I bet the all the dead are dancing in their graves right?” 8:35:52 AM 4/10/03 “Wouldn't you if you were a martyr surrounded by 40 virgins? (er was it 70 virgins, I forget)” 8:39:56 AM 4/10/03 “70 vigins? So what do they don day 71? Ask anyone who's slept with a virgin and they will tell ya it ain't all that great.” 9:04:39 AM 4/10/03 “There is something here that no one has mentioned, even on the news shows, but it struck me so strongly during the beginning of the war and ever since then too. There were a lot of Iraqis living in Jordan that a CNN reporter spoke of, thousands of them getting into buses and heading into Iraq to fight for their country against the invaders (the U.S.) when the war first started. Why was fighting the first thing these Iraqi men thought to do, instead of bringing food, water treatment, and medical supplies to their countrymen? I was astounded at this. Has there been any news of other Arabs besides Kuwaitis rushing into the country to help the Iraqis with basic needs? They would risk their lives to wield a gun, but not to drive anesthetics, antibiotics and sterile equipment into the embattled cities?” 10:29:07 AM 4/10/03 “They don't have anything!” 10:36:46 AM 4/10/03 “If I were living in Canada (perish the thought) and was under the impression that a foreign invader had entered the US, I sure wouldn’t be heading in with bottled water. I’d grab a gun and charge. It’s a matter of perspective. Remember, there is very little in the way of free press there, what there is is highly slanted, and many people are illiterate.” 10:44:26 AM 4/10/03 “Tarp Rat, they don't have to have anything, there are many organizations like Doctors without Borders and Red Cross that have the supplies but can't get them into the places that need them. And Violin, a bottle of water, really, that isn't what I said, I said water treatment, so don't try to reduce what I said into something funny. There were concerns for people, children suffering from diarrhea due to drinking from fetid water supplies and puddles.” 10:55:55 AM 4/10/03 “The Arab media is so slanted even the more liberal countries. Here's a cite I always share that does nothing but read, watch and listen to Arab media outlets, translates them and then puts them up. Some of the things coming out of that part of the world is amazing and answers a lot of the questions as to why they hate us so much. http://www.memri.org/index.html” 10:56:44 AM 4/10/03 “LyndyS, I don't think you really know what you're talking about... the people who are coming into the country to fight, have nothing. What does that have to do with Doctors without Borders and the Red Cross?” 10:58:03 AM 4/10/03 “BTW- I had to change my name because Matt decided he didn't want me to post anymore under Tarp Rat.” 10:59:37 AM 4/10/03 “I am sorry that you had to change your login name, Tarp Rat. It does not seem to me that these people in Iraq are illiterate and have nothing. I think that if they wanted to get a gun, they could get one, and if they wanted to make connections with relief organizations to get supplies into their countries, they could. Fighting seems to be more important to them than helping the elderly, women and children or the elderly.” 11:04:43 AM 4/10/03 “Who knows, maybe fighting for their country seemed like a more immediate need. Tarp Rat! What's the deal? Does Matt think you're a turr-ist?” 11:27:55 AM 4/10/03 “LyndyS, fighting is way more important to these people. What I think is lost to most Americans is the anger, the hunger, the thirst, the lack of hope, the ferocity, the need for revenge that dwells inside people who have been oppressed, who have nothing, and who have known nothing but violence their whole life. Think about it! When is the last time you slaughtered your own meat for the table? When did you see someone's dead body lying in the street? You can become immune to death, it can become part of everyday life, this is not so in America.. we always sweep death under a mat and paint our dead up in coffins so they look alive. We never deal with it.” 11:42:52 AM 4/10/03 “I didn't say 'a' bottle of water, LyndyS - I said 'bottled water'. I wasn't trying to be cute. If I thought my country was being invaded my first thought would be to fight. I doubt that other people in other nations are all that different from me.” 11:44:48 AM 4/10/03 “Tom, I'm not sure what set Matt off, but considering all the #&%!$ I have done on this board, lately I have been farely mild. I just asked everyone to shut up about the war and talk about backpacking. And then I couldn't post anymore. Excuse me for not wanted to argue politics with some people who are clearly racialy biased. This board would be awesome if these threads were deleted.” 11:46:00 AM 4/10/03 “"I doubt that other people in other nations are all that different from me." Iraqis wear tighty whiteys too? Cotton reall is the fabric of our lives!” 11:47:21 AM 4/10/03 “Tarp Rat, you are right, I can't imagine what it was like for these people to experience so much tragedy over so many years. The fear of imprisonment, torture, threat of death or torture to immediate family members, so many lost in previous wars, not to mention lack of food or medicine, it is impossible for me to put myself in these people's shoes. Are you saying that the average Iraqi (not the wealthy Ba'ath) is mostly thinking about expressing themselves violently as a result, or just a small percentage of the Iraqis? I am surprised that they don't then refocus their anger on the oppressors close at hand, rather than focusing on America. Sounds like propaganda on top of oppression, perpetrated by the leaders, rather than a natural tendency to blame the Americans. Maybe the Arab leaders direct the anger of the populous at the Americans, so as to not be the target themselves. I looked at the Arab news site posted and read the article on OPEC. How the OPEC quotas work is fairly complicated and the member organizations have trouble getting each other to stick to their quotas. Adding Iraq to the mix will complicate it but eventually it needed to be done, even if Saddam had complied with the UN rules and the sanctions were dropped.” 12:12:54 PM 4/10/03 “From Joe Conason in salon (yes he's a lefty wriying for a lib journal): ...there is another message in the clashing images of celebration and devastation, of looting and liberation. A world whose most powerful nations colluded for so long in Saddam's oppression of the Iraqis is now responsible for their future. Soon they will learn the value of all the worthy promises of democracy, human rights and the restoration of their national wealth. Now there can be no turning back, because the redemption of those commitments may very well determine our future, too.” 12:12:57 PM 4/10/03 “I'll bet for every Iraqi that wants to go home and fight the American invaders, there are 500 who want to go home to Iraq to celebrate SH's overthrow. I think we should encourage Palestinian/ Syrian / Egyptian freedom fighters to get over to Iraq while the fighting is still going on. That way we can eliminate them along with the die hard supporters of SH. We should position Abrams along the roads to and from Syria, and capture a bunch of Baath party members and SH administration heads.” 12:17:29 PM 4/10/03 “LyndyS, we were orginaly talking about the people coming in from other countries to fight the troops, now you are talking about the Iraqi people.” 12:28:14 PM 4/10/03 “I was talking about a reporter who claimed that he had seen about 5000 Iraqi men who had been living and working in Jordan, who decided to gather guns and buses, and go back into Iraq to fight against the coalition. About other nationalities, I was only talking about their apparent hatred of Americans in general. I used to think it was because of our relationship with Israel, but now it seems like more than that, somewhat related to propaganda fed them by their leaders to redirect their anger and attention away from leaders who directly control their lives. I also wondered why Arabs in other countries who do have money, don't step up and offer to help their Iraqi neighbors with medical aid. Kuwait has helped but where is wealthy Saudi Arabia's offers? At schools all across the US, there have been collections for money and school supplies to send to poor countries like Afghanistan. I'm sure that this adds up to small potatoes, but I would like to see news on the efforts of Mideast countries to help their neighbors in need. When are they going to call for the oil wealth to be used to help their own people?” 12:40:36 PM 4/10/03 “I thought you were talking about the people from other countries coming into Iraq, sorry. Just because they are Arab, or Muslim, doesn't mean all those countries want to help eachother. Many of them hate eachother.” 12:50:59 PM 4/10/03 “TARPY, did I read you right? If I disagree with you on this war, I'm clearly racially biased?” 1:22:55 PM 4/10/03 “You're wrong vc2... how do you come to that conclusion anyway? I don't think I have read even one of your posts! I was talking about rednecks like bacpac and a few others who are ignorant pieces of #&%!$, and even the webmaster for his selective policing of this board. Now I remember why I stopped coming around here after 9-11 happened. God forbid anyone other than you good ol' boy's come around this board. I bet there'd be a lynchin!” 7:18:23 AM 4/11/03 “Yeah, I bet it was your views that got you banned and not your personnal attacks on others.” 7:23:56 AM 4/11/03 “If you personally attack me, be prepared to deal with the consequences.” 7:27:16 AM 4/11/03 “What consequences?” 7:52:20 AM 4/11/03 “To be personally attacked, back!” 8:04:01 AM 4/11/03 “I'm offended by that comment.” 8:15:33 AM 4/11/03 “That's interesting, since there's nothing to be offended by!” 8:24:43 AM 4/11/03 “How dare you attack me personally!” 8:31:56 AM 4/11/03 “I'm not even ULTRpecker and I'm offended! LOL! Does anyone else see the irony that some here are so offended by the French jabs but have spewed even worse anti-American shat around with no realization of that fact?” 8:34:37 AM 4/11/03 “If you are accusing me of that, you need to back it up or get off the pot.” 8:54:47 AM 4/11/03 “If I want any shat out of you I'll squeez your head. I never said any names so phuck off thank you very much.” 9:01:51 AM 4/11/03 “You're shooting blanks.” 9:11:37 AM 4/11/03 Jump to Page << prev
