Tara, I almost found the perfect spoon tonight. it was made by pyrex and was the perfect size and shape but it had little holes in it. I'm now thinking of safe ways I can plug them up..............................

Make sure to thoroughly dry them before storage in refrigerator/counter top. Mine usually last atleast 4 or more days.

Cut the tops off and slice them up - then put them in a tupperware container and lightly sprinkle with sugar.

Throw 'em in the freezer.

They thaw fast and if you size the frozen portions correctly, you thaw out just what you need.

hmmm...but I don't want them frozen. I have frozen strawberries. I want them fresh.

I bought some a couple days ago...next day they was all weird looking. Bad enough for me not to want to eat them anymore.

I guess it also depends on when the store got them in. I'll cut the stems off and make sure they are dry. let's see how they'll do this time.

I could live with 4 days! 4 days is great!

Thanks!

'Those horrible things that come from down South' said one of the ladies when I asked if strawberry social season had begun while reading this thread.

Forced, hothouse strawberries in addition to being tasteles rot as you look at them.

Strawberry socials are fund raisers for churches, volunteer firemen and Women's Institutes here in the country. They start when the local berries are ripe.

sour cream and brown sugar? Huh? never heard of that.

i eat them with fat free coolwhip (if i have some)

if not I eat them with splenda or without anything, and of course with the dark light cholocate syrup....that's good too.

i had some for breakfast.

my very favorite is with real whipped cream, but then...woahhh...u better go run 5 miles after you ate them. sort of ruins it for me.

i don't wash them...they still dont' last. well..they did survive one night on the counter in the kitchen... i should've compared... cut some...dry some...don't do anything to the others... and see which ones last longest. oh well...too late.

got a feeling those won't last long this time because I have strawberry crawings like crazy. heeheehee

Wild strawberries are USUALLY the best. The flavor is much better than the domestic. I picked a few while leaving Troutville some time ago, but these were essentially tasteless, though I don't know why.

There are better things to do with cool whip!

Cool Whip is not really whipped cream, is it?

It may be some form of artificial plastic-like substance derived from hydrogenated vegetable oil with a vaguely whipped cream-like nature.

nope....cool whip is..i don't really now what it is...it's a jeap thrill i guess that's what it is. lol...

whipped cream [heehee i have some at home] is actually heavy cream and will have to whip it yourself.

you can add sugar or no sugar. i for example like the real whipped cream without sugar.

I also use it unwhipped in salads [great stuff]

okay now... i may make me some strawberries with real whipcream now...see what u did!!!

Strawberry Cobbler
4 to 6 Cups Strawberries (Halved, Stemmed, and sugared: about 1/2 cup of sugar).
1 Stick of Butter
1 Cup of Sugar
1 Cup of Milk
1 Cup of Flour (self Rising)

Place melted stick of butter in the bottom of a 9 X 13 Glass cake pan.

Pour fresh Strawberries in on top of the butter.

Mix Flour, Sugar and Milk, stir until smooth; Pour over the strawberries.

Bake in 350 degree Oven 30/40 minutes or until Golden Brown.

This recipe is also a bang up with peaches, cooked apples, Blackberries, etc. experiment and enjoy!

Snackboy eat your heart out, this is Yummbly!
