wow, thanks guys!

it's good to be back. buffalo babe will say different, lol.

anywayz, it was all good goin without screens. the boys only had one or 2 meltdowns....where they were really geekin out for a TV. they found plent to do. mostly playin baseball out back.

the adults did fine too. there were a few times i really wanted to get the TV. when the war started was the worst day. a true test of my will, lemme tellya. like trying to quit smokin and working atta cigarette factory. but i was determined to prove (mostly to myself) i could do it...that i didn't really need it. we listened to the radio constantly. couldn't stand the white silence. i also learned some cool tunes on me guitar, including 2 that i performed at my boy's middle school fundraiser(200 people), turned out great and i really enjoyed performing. we really diddn't get that much acomplished for the house but yesterday i built our official mailbox for the new place. it's rather regal looking, i must say. i stole the idea from the people next to us out there. it has four posts(4x4) with ornamental know thingies on top and a huge mailbox. buffalo babe painted it today and i'm gonna set it soon. she also got alot of junk sorted through and i put alot in storage.

another very way cool thing that happened to me was ... my friend, the potter was going to an arts show in houston, and as it happened my family was giving a 85th birthday party to me grandaddy. well, i offered to drive my friend down in the middle of the night, so he could sleep and work his booth the next morning, and then i hooked up with my family and went to the party. i got to see my dad and sister and uncles and met a bunch of awesome people in my family that i'd never met before. they invited me down for the 4th of july annual bash and told me to bring the band and perform that night at this KICK A$$ spread right on the ocean, complete with a fleet of 4 wheelers and 13 acres of riding trails! how could i refuse? i can't wait. it was great to see grandaddy and tell him how much i love him and how proud of him i am. i fear that i won't have another chance as he is very frail these days.

baseball season is gettin goin. i'm head coach for my 5 yr old's t-ball team(it's halarious!) and assistant coach for ma 11 yr old, and my 9 yr old is playing too. we'll literally be at the ballpark every night of the week for the next 8 weeks. so much for hiking, lmao!

let's see....i'll be able to go in 12 years...when my youngest graduates....

Hello!

I finished a guitar two Sundays ago and gave it to #2 son for his 17th on the fifth.

After digging through boxes of junk in the basement I found everything but pots.

Hey, isn't baseball a liberal/sissy game?

Your "Adventures Without Screens" (AWS) sound awesome! I'd really like to try that someday, but I'd need time to mentally prepare for it. Tis no easy task.

true that arty. i had to syche myself up for a week or so. and man, when the war started, it was tough, i wanted to see the imbedded reporters. i really wanted to show the kids that it's not that big a deal.

tom, i still can't have any sharp objects yet.....and baseball in a manly sport for manly men, and that's cool that you built a guitar. i've always wanted to do that. i also want to paint my white strat......maybe an american flag er sumpthin.....

Finally went and did the Butterfield trail this weekend dude. With all the dogwoods and redbuds bloomin' it was a very nice trail indeed. Hiked it counterclockwise from pavilion trailhead to junction camp and back (11 miles total). A good one stratdude!

violin, good to be back....you ole so-n-so you

lizzypoo.....

In the Executive Branch, the Bush team's economic stringers have
been attempting to block Démocrate maneuvering to reduce the
President's proposed tax cuts and to lard up the supplemental
appropriations paying for the war and related anti-terrorism
measures. You know that Mr. Bush would like to leave a cool
$726 billion more in taxpayer pockets, but the Démocrates want
to keep more of your money and spend it, paring the tax cut down
to $350 billion. Looks like Team Bush will dicker for the best
deal possible -- now looking to be about $550 billion in tax cuts.
Treasury Secretary John Snow promised, "We ... are going to push
for the largest possible [tax cut] package that we can get."
