Woohoo! I just went grocery shopping and bought a bunch of fruit to dehydrate (mango's, bananas, apples, plums, kiwi).

Yippee - a new science project!

Now - how to make beef jerky?

Twinkle, I use round steak marinated in "Dale's Marinade". Doesn't take too long to marinate. Slice thin and throw on the dehydrator!

Marinating in terayaki or soy sauce also works well. Each are salty enough to double as a preservative. Spread on a thin layer of Jack Daniel's grilling sauce, and you have some faaaaantastic jerky. :-)

Put the fruit in a blender and you get fruit leather. Be careful not to leave it in too long, it can get a bit tough. It tastes wonderful, though.

BTW, Fuji apples retain their sweetness when dried.

I'm dehydrating my famous beans and rice now for my upcoming trip. And tomorrow, some turkey jerky. This trip will be a blast, in more ways than one.

Artex - I ordered your meat gun (lol) and it's been on back order since late Feb. They keep postponing the delivery date. Darn them :-(

Whatever you do to your jerky, don't leave out the Liquid Smoke in your marinade.
