I like this one because of the outside pockets. I find that, that is a big sell for me when it comes to backpacks.
But what do you think of this?

Looks like a lot of pack. We'll see this pack walking down the trail with two legs sticking out below.

It's a little heavy, but a good price for a 4500ci pack. I'm not seeing a better deal on STP. Outside pockets are great, but they add weight. You might want to try it on at an outfitter's first, if you can find it at one.

I have the kelty Telluride...hybrid loading, outside pockets..it's about like this one, and i'm betting this one your looking at weighs around 6 pounds more likely than their rating. Mine weighs 7 pounds and is a monster (3300 cu rating but could eat Miss opie with room for my sleeping bag).
The straps, pockets and openings will get on your nerves soon enough.

I was a pocket fan..but now all i want is a map pocket and 2-3 zippers. My next big purchase is a lighter pack. It hurts me to think about my pack weighing more than my food.

Maple, the Coyote was my first pack. It served me very well and you can't go wrong with the price.

I still have her...she has become "the loaner" permanently, it seems, for my friend, Crazy Patty. :o)

What Amy G Said
Maple - I still have mine and use it..prolly won't stray until I buy a go-lite. Rough estimates for weight to cubic inches is about 1 lb for every 1,000 cubic inches. This pack is dead on - it weight 4 lbs and is slightly over 4,000 cui.

The only complaint I have and this is because I am a large chested (translated means BIG BOOBS) woman - the sternum strap just doesn't quite fit right. It does the job ok, just doesn't lay right across my big boobs. So, I guess there are other things I could gripe about, right? Like a strap that fits and NO BOOBS??? LOL

Love this pack - don't pay more than $130 for it..I got mine on sale at REI early last year for $110. Check ebay - might find one there. I'll prolly never sell mine..it's a great back up or loaner, like Amy G said.

Good luck Woman!!

It looks like my Kelty Flight, which is 3 lbs. I took all the pockets off because of the weight. Only thing I need on it is the side net pockets.

I got the GoLite Trek (2 lbs) last fall. I finally used it in Death Valley carrying 29-30 lbs (lots of water) and part way thru the trip my hips were swollen and sore.

I used it again this weekend carrying about 32 lbs (incl snowshoes), and it was fine. The hip belt doesn't have padding, but with the extra layers it didn't bother me.

The GoLite was $138.
