Talk amongst yourselves
I've been looking at a new tent, and I've seen the Eureka Zeus Exo mentioned several times. Its price and weight (2 person) are really appealing. From what I gather, it's a single wall, and most complaints with single walls have to do with condensation.
Given the fact that my wife is less than enthusiastic about BPing, most of my/our trips will be in war weather, in Ky/Tn. Do you think condensation will be a concern?

...that would be warm weather, although depending on her mood it could be "war" weather

Is it humid? You're not in dry heat (like a desert) so my guess is it's humid and probably very humid.

I had a big problem with condensation in my 1-person Zeus this past weekend. It was cold, with morning dew and in a stream valley. There were water drops coming off the walls onto my goose down bag. In fact, the top of my bag hit that outside wall and was very damp.

I am possibly going to rethink this tent. (perhaps return it??) I had checked with others on different boards before getting it. It did seem condensation was a problem, unless in very dry climes, according to what they said. They also noted the importance of pitching it right, to take best advantage of wind direction.

I liked the weight. The set-up is funky looking, but cool. The color is nice. The price was right, $119.

On the other hand, my head hit the roof when sitting up (so of course, it got wet)... and I had to struggle to get out through the door, which was quite low at the top.

I'd be curious to hear other responses here, as well. I know Arky has the 2-person. BTW, a guy had the 2-person on this trip I was on. He also had condensation problems.

your post on your trip report was what started me thinking, I just couldn't remember where I read it and was too lazy to look it up. It gets pretty humid in the summer and fall around here. Also, I'm 6'2", so I too might have a problem when I sit up.

While I'm thinking about it, Campmor has a TNF Slickrock that weighs in around 4 lbs fpr $199. I don't read or hear much about TNF tents. Any particular reason?

FYI, this other guy had the two-person Zeus. It looked plenty big looking into it. He said it was good-sized.

I hope Arky checks in on this.

Yes, I have the 2 man Zues. I have only used it 1 weekend. The 1st night I had a lot of condensation but I realized the top vent had closed. I stuck something in the vent the 2nd night & had no problems. It is the easiest setup I've ever had. Headroom is so-so (I'm 5'11").

hmmmmmm.... maybe I need to check that top vent! I did notice my sleeping bag was right up against the bottom door vent, so even if open (and I had it open), air might not have been flowing good. I used tiny little bungees to guy out the sides away from the vent, which worked well.

that's why i opted for the eureka mountain pass 1, to avoid the condensation problem. it's a teeny bit heavier and about the same price, but you get 2 vestibules for gear and dalmations and a lil more headroom. i think i'm going to make a footprint groundcloth and try is 'fastpacking' in warm weather. i haven't tried it outside yet, but here in my living room there was absolutely no condensation whatsoever.

I assume that if there is a mountain pass 1 there is probably a mountain pass 2 available?

I just bought the Mountain Pass 1XT also. Inside, it's only 3 feet wide, but it's 8 feet long. Although head room could use another 4 inches, it is very cozy for a 1 person setup. The vestibules areas are a real nice extra, the door is very spacious, and there are a number of ventilation options, including a velco wide vent on the top of the fly. So far, no problems with condensation and I'm very happy with it!

My "Divine Lightning" is so nice. Singlewall is the way to go in my Mountains. The bright yellow and blue that Sierra Designs uses to help locate your tent in a storm,is my only complaint. Can't quite hide very well in this tent.

Very true wingdingO. Bibler still is at the top of the Mountain with 'TodTex" The old Garudas are a close second.
