“Saturday, April 19, 2003 Posted: 2:28 PM EDT (1828 GMT) VALLEJO, California (Reuters) -- A California woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly dropping her 3-year-old son off a sea wall into a bay and walking away, police said Friday. The toddler was rescued Thursday by a passerby who told police he saw the woman dangling the boy by his arms over the waters of San Pablo Bay as he cried out, "Don't throw me in the water," Vallejo Police Sgt. Herman Robinson said. Vallejo is about 50 miles east of San Francisco. Cheauvon Brown, 34, of Vallejo, reportedly walked away after dropping the boy into the murky waters about 4 feet below, Robinson said. Alejandro Martinez, walking nearby, stripped off his sweatshirt and dove in after the child, who had not surfaced. Witnesses told police that Brown tried to get her son back after Martinez rescued him, but they "pushed her away" and called police, Robinson said. After Brown was arrested, she refused to make any statement to police, Robinson said, adding, "She basically showed no emotion." Brown was being held without bail and will be arraigned Monday. The child was with his father, and Brown's 17-year-old daughter was with relatives, Robinson said. A woman threw her child off the same sea wall seven years ago and the child drowned, Robinson said.” 4:08:08 PM 4/19/03 “Some folks just shouldn't be allowed to breed. I hope she get's life and a historectomy.....” 5:53:34 PM 4/19/03 “The most heinous thing about this story is she will probably get the kid back, at some point.” 8:29:52 PM 4/19/03 “You won't see this story 24/7 like we have been subjected to the Peterson case.” 8:40:18 PM 4/19/03 “I think some of the fascination by the public, is that most people expect that evil doesn't look normal. They look at someone like the 'husband' and think he doesn't look evil. The preppie murderer, Ted Bundy look nice not like the embodiment of evil.” 9:41:30 PM 4/19/03 “Maybe she was imitating Micheal Jackson, and...oops...dropped her baby by mistake....heh heh. "But your honor, the water cushioned the fall", she would say.” 12:23:41 PM 4/20/03 “Unfortunately, interfering with reproductive organs as a sentence is considered cruel and inhuman punishment.” 12:24:25 PM 4/21/03 “I believe in Austraila, rapists can go free if they undergo an operation to remove there balls and recieve female hormones. I think America needs to adopt something along this line for people of this ilk. It really takes an evil person to do that to a child. Granted, they might be a little touched in the head, but if so, they should not be aloud to have other children. Things have got to change inthe country.” 12:29:43 PM 4/21/03 “I've got to admit - I often think there is a point at which it becomes reasonable to have someone sterilized - or maybe they should just be put in jail and denied conjugal visits. I worked for a year at an agency that did evaluations in abuse cases - there were some women who seemed to repeatedly abused and/or neglected their kids until they were permenantly taken away and then would immediately get pregnant and have another. Others just kept popping 'em out and losing them. I met some of the Moms, Dads and kids in these cycles - the net effect on the kids and on society (because of these damaged angry kids) was horrible.” 12:33:59 PM 4/21/03 “What a slippery slope though. Once you let the government make decisions about your testicles, the guns are next I tell you.” 12:36:49 PM 4/21/03 “Some days, I have doubts as to how good a job I'm doing with my kids. You know, do I spend enough time with them, am I creating happy memories for them to enjoy when they get older, that kind of thing. Makes me wonder if I'm really being a good parent or not. Then I read a story link this one and realize I ain't so bad...” 4:40:25 PM 10/23/03 “Good Gawd, some people just shouldn't be allowed to breed.” 4:43:02 PM 10/23/03 “In my opinion those who worry about how good a job they do as a parent are usually the ones doing the best jobs as parents.” 4:45:29 PM 10/23/03 “Blood's a good daddy...” 4:50:18 PM 10/23/03 “geez” 4:56:45 PM 10/23/03 “<blushing> awww....gee thanks. We'll see how well I did in, oh, about 4 years...lol...my daughter will 12 then.” 5:02:49 PM 10/23/03 “...and your hair will commence falling out, lol...” 5:03:47 PM 10/23/03 “...and my brother will say, "About time!"...lol... That reminds me, gotta get a shotgun, lol...” 5:05:28 PM 10/23/03 “Don't let her start dating until she's thirty...” 5:06:54 PM 10/23/03 “That's what we've told her. She's okay with it, right now...” 5:07:54 PM 10/23/03 “I try to make my overdoses as real and gritty as I can for my kids. I want them to know that drugs are bad and I'll keep shooting up everyday to prove that point drugs are bad mmkay?” 7:05:18 PM 10/23/03 “Courtney Love has been on my most hated list for a long long time. This just makes her position more secure.” 7:10:06 PM 10/23/03 “I've seen dung beatles with more common sense than her.” 7:12:42 PM 10/23/03 “I'm serious about that Bit. Being a Scoutmaster I see a lot of different parenting styles and that statement pretty much sums it up. Phaed- I try not to hate anybody buuuuuut....yep, she's on my list too.” 9:58:09 PM 10/23/03 “Courtney needs to re-think that last name.” 10:25:03 PM 10/23/03 “Brawl Erupts At Pompom Event Woman was arrested and charged with hitting a teenager with a trophy.” 11:44:01 AM 12/13/04 “Damn! SE Woman Arrested At Team Contest By Martin Weil and Allan Lengel Washington Post Staff Writers Monday, December 13, 2004; Page B03 A scuffle broke out at a District pompom competition during the weekend, and a Southeast Washington woman was arrested and charged with hitting a teenager with a trophy. The fighting Saturday came after the announcement of judges' decisions at the music and dance contest, at Ballou Senior High School for teams from District recreation centers. "A brawl broke out in the gym," said Bridgette Rhodes, whose daughter performed in the competition. "People were fighting. Somebody threw cans. Somebody threw a trophy. It was just out of control." Rhodes said that when she exited the school building, in the 3400 block of Fourth Street SE, she saw two people holding their heads. "I don't know which one was hit by the trophy and which by the punches," she said. A 14-year-old girl, who police said was hit with a trophy, was taken to Children's Hospital after the melee and released, authorities said. Tammy Bryant, 41, of the 300 block of Anacostia Drive SE, was arrested, said Sgt. Joe Gentile, chief spokesman for the D.C. police. He said she was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Bryant could not be reached yesterday for comment. Rhodes, whose daughter was on a team from Turkey Thicket Recreation Center, said the annual competition, which has a $5 admission, draws ample crowds. After winners were announced, Rhodes said, two women began arguing. "Next thing I know," she said, "I saw a brawl . . . 15 to 20 people, then a big pack, started fighting." For a time, she said, people were trying to pull women out of the knot of scufflers. But the "pack got bigger and I saw people throwing stuff," she said. Staff writer Theola S. I apologize to Texas!” 12:01:59 PM 12/13/04 “I have made the mistake in the past as well, but I trust him now.” 12:19:04 PM 12/13/04 “Moohahaha!” 1:11:42 PM 12/13/04 “Yeah, stop demeaning DC with these wussy crimes! "A teenager charged with fatally shooting a fellow student at a Southeast Washington high school told a jury yesterday that he went for the gun he was carrying because he believed he was about to be shot or stabbed. Thomas J. Boykin, 19, said he was "scared for my life" in the moments before the Feb. 2 killing of 17-year-old James Richardson. "I thought he was reaching for a knife or a gun," Boykin testified." Some jerk decided it was a good idea to leave his son in the parking lot in the car while he went in and saw The Dark Knight, the latest Batman installment. Oh, yes he did. David Farnham, candidate for father of the year, left his two-year-old son alone in a locked car while he took in the more than two hour movie. Naturally people who were actually concerned about the boy's wellbeing noticed him crying and sent for help from the police. When the boy was retrieved he was dehydrated and scared but otherwise in relatively good condition. The cops noted it was 87 degrees and the windows of the car were rolled up. I think about this kind of thing all the time living in New York where the temperatures get surprisingly hot. Aside from the basic, common sense fact that no child should be left alone in a car, it was too hot for him to be out there. Did I mention it was in the middle of the night? Oh, yeah, the father went to see the 1:00 AM screening of the movie. I know an R-rated movie is no place for a child, certainly not a two-year-old, but isn't it better than being left alone in a hot car? Or, wait--I know the answer: GET A SITTER. If you can shell out the ten bucks to see the movie you can certainly afford a few dollars more to get someone to watch your kid.” 6:20:52 AM 7/23/08 “Dutchess...this is not "sour grapes" I hope, because you didn't get in. heh heh Just funning with ya.” 6:02:10 PM 7/23/08
