my boot eater pooch was fine this morning...but now he's sitting and can't move his entire back half. He's trembling and trying. He's about to goto the vet in a few mins but we've been so freaking busy. Wasn't hit by a car, unless he chased the 1 car that went by in the 5 seconds i wasn't looking, or he was snakebit..but the only probably bite marks are around his face..and no swelling.
He went to the vet for his shots and wormer saturday..and ideas?.

how old is he?. could be a touch of arthritis. An old dog of mine had that problem. It should clear up pretty soon for this spell, but he's likely to get it again. Vet should be able to give you something for it. Just a possibility. Sounds very like it though.

Check for ticks.
I had a dog do this when I was a kid. He had a large tick on his backbone.

Opie, your dog will probably be fine. My wife is a vet assistant and she sees this frequently. When dogs get a virus like the human cold, paralysis of the hind end is a common symptom. The vet will probably give you something for your dog and should be back to normal in a day or so. Let me know how things turn out.

Sounds like it could be tetinus(SP?).

Sounds like a virus or he tweaked a back muscle or something. Our Airedale did that when she was a year old.

Older dogs can also have seizure activity, which sometimes leads to transient hind limb paralysis, but your pooch is only a year old... He must have known it was Monday, My butt drags on Monday's too!

Maple is right talk to a Vet. My dog stopped breathing last summer, we rushed her to the vet. Of course when we got there she was back to her old self. Never did find out what happened.

Good luck with your dog!

Hope you dog is OK, Opie.

I had to take Rosey in for xrays last week b/c she developed a limp/stiff leg that wouldn't go away. I thought maybe she had hip displaysa, but the xrays came out fine and he his nice, tight bones.

Prolly a pulled/torn muscle and she's on antiinflamatories now. Hard to keep her chilled out tho...

Head for the vet for evaluation.

Something like that happened to my wife's dog apparently she messed up her back jumping. In a week she was okay.

But have the vet examine your boot eating pooch. (I hope it's not your HIKING boots that he/she eats!)

I wonder why you posted on the internet instead of consoling your dog and taking care of it? Mayhaps the outcome would have been different if you had taken care of ythe dog instead of positng on the 'net. That's gotta be tough to live with.

He was just stating a fact. One I am sure that many of you have ask'd yourself when you saw his post.
He may have wasted time by posting here first then taking the dog to the Vet.
If you see a person hit by a car, do you stop to smell the pretty roses first then go to the Hospital?

ok i know your a troll, and your job is to piss me off..but this thread had dropped way off the radar...maybe my dog was at my feet as i typed the post, his back broken unknown to us by a car that hit him late that night. maybe i sat with him and tried to find out what was wrong with him even as he bit me, leaving deep scars.
I posted on this board due to the varied experiences and professions that many that post here have. Have you ever had to put something you love down?...and in response to the a$$clown that said i had him put to sleep as the cheap alternative obviously thinks maybe next time i take the cheaper way out and spend .10 cents on a 9mm round and pop something i love in the head....so Fu(k you!

and i bet you live 10 minutes from an animal hospital also...and do you have your dog at work with you all day..so you can drop your work at the drop of a hat...i waited maybe an hour to take him to the vet...not waiting for responses to my post...but to check if the vet was in his office and not in the fields, tying up lose ends to get him up there, and watching him to see if there was any decline or improvement in his health...but i guess hindsight is 20/20...and your not worth anymore of my time, and i don't have to explain crap to you....i hope you hike yourself off a cliff fu(kstick

Cowardice on the part of the troll.

Some trolls are funny, some are evocative of strong passions for a lively discussion, but this is just a sick, sad, feeble, pathetic little attempt at anonymous venomous discourse. In other words, I wouldn't piss on this guy if he was on fire.

my last word...yea maybe that was in bad taste..but i was hurting pretty bad, didn't wanna come out with the long drawn out struggle that it took to get zeb an hour down the road...him yelping and crying the whole way...trying to go 100..but only able to go 55 due to traffic and rough roads.
maybe i didn't feel like being serious..when have i ever been known for that. what's your beef with me anyway...i think i know who you are anyway....and i feel sorry for you and your family
