Havasupai Falls
Just did four days in Havasu Canyon and The Falls. WOW this place was so beautiful! A cross between Zion and Hawaii.
The hike in was awesome, with a reward of a cool swim that won't forgotten.
This section of Havasu Creek is one of the most photgraphed spots in the U.S. The Limestone deposits make for spectacular terraced falls with Travertine formations that blow your mind.
A bit crowded for my taste, but the scenery is worth the trade off.
Sorry no pics yet.

I'm jealous! As we speak, I am looking at an unbelievable photo of Havasupai Falls in Backpacker. It is listed as the Most Idyllic Waterfall. Looking forward to seeing your pics.

didjfan, I hope you are diligently working on your trip report and pics. I wanted to go there last year but plans did not work out. I'd love to hear all about it!

Webshots have some great pics of the falls.

The crowds were horrid, and the campground cramped. We went downstream to a spot named "Beaver Falls" Saw no beaver, but the swimming hole is the best. Lots of cliff diving and high jumps of up to 50ft. I love adrenaline with a splash of fear.

Did not make the trip all the way to the Colorado, but maybe next time, and there will certainly be a "next time".

If anyone is planning a trip to this wonder of the world, email me for some FYI's that may save some grief.

I've been wanting to go to Havasu Canyon, but the idea of crowds doesn't thrill me. I always thought the area was peaceful and quiet.

come out west and go with me - we'll go in the middle of the week and avoid some of the crowds. Havasupai suffers greatly from human abuse but is still stunningly beautiful.

Havasupai was great!
This is finally one place that was as neat to experience, as it was to see in photos. I went in May and the crowds were not that bad. I would recommend this hike to anyone. I would not go in July/August unless you love the heat. A local told me its 100 degrees at midnight.
Here is a great place for Havasupai hiking information http://www.havasufalls.net

wow... I was thinking of planning a trip back to Havasupai this autumn and was researching the damage from last year's flood (I think it was last year, at least... maybe the year before)... turns out one of the four falls, Navajo Falls, was completely obliterated by the flood. Like, gone.

I guess, in nature, things are never permanent, but because they're in the terms of millions of years, they certainly feel that way. Having had the luck to see Navajo Falls once, it's certainly a shame that they're no more. But that's nature for you - always changing

Pretty cool though, isn't it? Kind of like the old man of the mountain when it collapsed a few years ago.

The geysers of Yellowstone change a lot, too.

That is correct Pepsi. Only 3 falls there now. And some of the pools and rivulets are gone too.

yeah, pretty incredible... and I guess the flooding that caused damage to Navajo Falls happened before that dam broke, so it's a natural occurance... it's just really weird to think about
