“stove, in answer to your question about elevation, day 3 will be the only extremely difficult day. im only in moderate shape, and im confident i can handle it. someone in good shape will have no problem. we will have a couple of days to acclimate before hitting real high elevation. drink lots and lots of water, and bring aspirin to combat altitude sickness, just in case. on day three, i plan on getting up VERY early, and allowing several hours for the hike, because we need to be at or below treeline by mid-afternoon.”

Scoop...I will not probably see you...I will not be able to head to them hills till Thursday night. Sooo...Jgiles....theres your que...I have asked my friend from Philly to come too...if he does, then he picks up the car, comes to pick me up thurs nite, then away weeeeeee go. If he does decide to attend...then you will need to co ordinate your arrival time on Thurs with him, so then the 2 of you pick me up and away weeeeeeeee go...Stovestomper...if you can't make the 2 scoops trip, then your invited on the weekend deal. My goal is to hike and summit Mummy mtn. I have now seen this hump from all sides and far away...I am going to climb it and hump it myself and piss off its flanks. It will be a strenous trek...Stalker and I hiked the approach and saw how to do it on the easier angle...anyway...thats the basic idea...no time to do a major loop hike like 2S, but enough time to go hump a hump...Lizs, I know vaca time is a commodity for you, can you make this weekend gig...if you can, I'd be more than happy to share a hump with you. PLEASE come along and hump with me.

“its starting to look like i should have reserved group sites instead of individual sites. thats ok. i prefer smaller parties anyway. what im probably going to do is, once i get 10 yes or maybe's, ill make this a private trip and send everyone the password. then, about a month before the trip, ill email everyone and ask who is going and whos not, and set a deadline to respond, because if there are more than 7 or 8 ppl that want to go, some ppl wont be able to. ill give first priority to the ppl that have been signed up on the trips board the longest. i hope this seems fair to everyone.

“If I make the trip I'll probably be flying into and out of Denver, arriving on the Saturday and leaving the Sunday. I'd like to get a couple of day hikes in either side of the 5-day trip. And I'll be renting a car, so if timing of flights works out I'd be happy to give someone a ride.

I've put in my vacation request at work and as soon as that's approved I will probably get my tickets. If I have my flight booked then they'll have to let me have the time off.”

“take the regs in RMNP very seriously...if you err on the side of the regs, then you won't loose any sleep while on the hike...but,,,RMNP rangers are not to mess around with...play it straight and do what they say. get the plates and no worries mon.”
