looking for indepth information on...
canoeing and hiking the river and gorge area. does anyone have a book and map that I can borrow, or can you recommend one...also...does anyone have a contact number to a ranger station there or even a canoe rental company that they have used and liked.

PLUS...does anyone have photos of the river or of the gorge from the river view? I found loads of photos...all of arches and stuff, but not from the rivers edge or river views.

Thanks...

dude, call me. i got everything you'll need.
there's a company by the gladie site that will shuttle you. i think the red river through the gorge is basically a 1 day float, but i know of quite a few places you could safely leave the boat for a dayhike. that sounds like a very cool trip.
i can think of 1 place right away to paddle up a feeder a little ways to a pimpass campsite, with a really nice loop trail to hike right around it.

DT...email me your phone #...
I don't want to spend the time looking for it....the float thru the gorge is 19 miles...for a regular adult, that is a day trip, but there will be 2 lil (sort of) boys and a shiela with me and my friend Bill...so...the idea is to take some real good time, and get out of the boat and do some exploring...

but send my your phone #. I need to make arrangements NOW!!! as we are talkin Labor Day weekend...
