“hey y'all (just keeping the theme going), looks like i'll be in the Flathead Lake area for 2 weeks this summer. i'd love to do a 2-night loop somewhere within 2 hours or so of Polson. can anybody recommend a trail, a forest, a destination? i like to do 10 or so miles a day, so 30 miles sounds like a good approximation. suggestions? anybody up there wanna join me? if it's a bit far for you, you're welcome to stay over at our cabin before or after.” 10:36:35 AM 4/22/03 “THAT SOUNDS AMAZING. If I was anywhere remotely close I'd be there. Where is the cabin? Is it your vacation home or regular home?” 11:17:14 AM 4/22/03 “It's pretty up there. Have fun.” 11:18:46 AM 4/22/03 “the cabin is actually right on Flathead. don't get the wrong idea, we're not Montana Glitz. my grandpa built it back in the early 60's. it's kind of a shared family place now.” 12:17:23 PM 4/22/03 “If you are in Polson just look east - the Mission Mountains are beckoning. Absolutely gorgeous area and very close! Mostly National Forest land, but also Flathead Reservation - they require a permit and charge a fee. I recall a Scout trip many years ago spending the night at Lake of the Clouds - half iced-over and mountain goats strolling between our bags in the mornings (don't tell, but I think it is on tribal land and we had no permits) I'd have to go home and check maps, but many hikes should fit your bill.” 5:28:54 PM 4/22/03 “Beautiful place. My sister used to live on Lolo Creek not far from Missoula. It was pretty awesome.” 5:38:18 PM 4/22/03 “You're talking my neighborhood TB. I'll go.” 3:08:05 PM 2/15/07
