I was sorry to see Amy Adams go because she at least has a personality, not to mention a much better voice than at least 4 of the others. But the only thing I can conclude is that hair really matters to some folks who vote, and they believe pink hair is still the sign of a "naughty" girl from the fringes of society. That would explain why the "aw shucks" boys, JPL and Stevens are getting more votes.

I predict Amy Adams will get a career out of this though. Maybe a sitcom role, which she seems perfect for. And she did do very well with a country song.”

“"Yellow Brick Road" was a really poor choice for her vocal range, but I think her biggest issue with fans ultimately was how nervous and frightened she seemed to be -- it really affected her performances -- and that makes many people uncomfortable. Last night, from the first moment of the show, her expression looked like she was in court about to be sentenced to prison. No faith in herself was evident.

“My MSU freshman dorm roommate had the Yellow Brick Road double album on reel to reel. We played that thing ALL the time. Still one of my favs.
He was a part time DJ over in Columbus, MS where MUW (MS Univ for Women) is.
We used to play 'All the Girls Love Alice' late at night and dedicate it to all 'the ladies of MUW'. We never had much luck getting dates from that school for some reason. ;-)”

“Hey, SS, I did a pause at MSU since I went to Michigan State. "Yellow Brick" was big during my junior or senior year (those are hazy times) after I'd transferred schools. Some co-eds I partied with regularly played it non-stop for a while.

Elton's first two albums came to my attention during my freshman year at MSU. I remember buying them at the shop across from campus for $2.98 each. There are some great songs on his early albums that folks have forgotten about. That's why it was good to hear George do "Take Me to the Pilot."”

Actually, it's kind of funny. Barry thought up all these crazy arrangements that really tested the singers. And, you're a contestant and Barry is the pro, so how would you tell Barry, "EEEK!! I can't do this. I will fail and be out of the contest." heheh Tough dilemma for them. But I suppose it was meant to be that way for all of them.

Most of them sucked at their Barry Manilow tunes, but heck, half of that was HIS -- Barry's -- fault. George really sucked, as did Mr. Redhead.

I also wonder how it sounds if you're there. Simon once said the singers came off and sang a lot different on TV than in person. To me, you could barely hear a lot of them above the music on their low notes.”

“I totally agree walkindude.. American Idol is what made them famous. It just sucks for the ones that never even made an appearance on TV because any money that they make by singing, they have to share with FOX. I'm sure the ones that actually get record deals don't mind.”

“I always wondered if the people got screwed over somehow, if it was some type of "studio system," like the movie studios had in the old day. In that case you had to do movies for just one studio.

It sounds like with American Idol, you perhaps have to stay with whomever they want you to once you're recording and "out there." Think I heard that the gal who has that "Eighth World Wonder" song out is rooming with Clay Aiken. MAYBE they'd room together, but wouldn't you probably room with someone else in either of their instances?
