Then again, I think that it's a too bad to get voted off during Bee Gees "week". That stuff is hard to sing (and listen to). Unfair material to have the singers cover. It's like having Berry White, or Luther Vandross tunes featured, then voting the person off because they can't do it right.

This show jumped the shark this year; no sense in watching it any further, IMHO.”

Whether or not you like Blake, he is a new voice and a current - if not cutting edge - style. He rocked last night on the Maroon Five and his final song.

“The reason Blake is still around and not Melinda has to be the songs. Blake's contemporary songs appeal to the younger audience that votes. Melinda sang "Nutbush City Limits" and "I'm a Woman" a couple obscure old songs which surely didn't play well with the young voting audience. Sanjaya's success was not in his singing voice, but knowing who votes, and how to get that vote.”

“I liked Melinda. She dropped the irritating surprise looks the last 4 or 5 weeks. But apparently she did not appeal to the voting audience (as opposed to the "non-voting" audience).

I would guess the same people who voted for Taylor Hicks will vote for Blake...there are some similarities. So, who knows who will win.

“Taylor Hicks won AI 5 and has an album, but Chris Daughtery was 4th place on AI 5 and has done much better with his CDs. I think Kathryn McPhee has done OK...not sure how her CD sales compare to Taylor's.

It will be interesting to see how the AI 6 contestants do over time.”
