“Yeah, Fantasia probably wishes she could have quit after the first song, but I think it is a great set-up to have them sing two songs. This is a real test of their abilities as performers. Fantasia is my favorite, but she can't sit on her laurels. She probably knew she was taking a risk with the second song, and that's what separates her from LaToya. LaToya, who is so very solid, just doesn't take any risks on stage.”

“It almost seems like we've been watching Jasmine melt down the past 3 weeks or so. She has gotten progressively worse. I liked her, but not the past two weeks. Definitely needs to go.”

It's something elusive, when the person has a unique voice. Some will hate, but others will really like it. I like Don Henley for example and he kind of whines. But still... I like Don Henley.

To me, Latoya has been a cool, kind of aloof performer. Great voice, but not necessarily someone to warm up to.

As for Jasmine, perhaps Simon pissed Hawaii off with his comments that everyone on the island better vote for her... and they came through in a big way????

However, Latoya may be the one who makes out the best. She'll have America's sympathy and I hope she plays it with the marketing genuises of whatever record label all the way to a huge hit album.”

“This show is a setup! I DON'T BELIEVE that the reason Fantasia is still in the game is because America is voting for her. I've been to a ton of message boards, and maybe 20% of all messages speak favorably of Fantasia. Same with people in real life. MOST can't stand her! After last night, I'm absolutely sure the show is a setup. Who counts these votes? LaToya, Diana and Jennifer are/were the three best performers there, with talent AND the right attitude. Fantasia has a horrible voice that can get away with singing soft songs nicely but as soon as she has to hit hight notes she SHRIEKES. Besides, her attitude stinks. It's clear that LaToya was eliminated as competition to Fantasia, and Fantasia was put in the bottom two last night to add some drama and suspense. And when two weeks ago they carried her kid on stage - WTF??? The reason Fantasia is going to win is because she has the insolence and the "don't-give-a-sh*t" attitude that others don't have, but that's what showbusiness values. Talent? WHAT TALENT???”

“As all the judges said, Fantasia has already left American Idol in her rearview mirror -- she's going to be the one we still hear about in a few years, probably will have a better career than Clay Aikens eventually if whoever signs her lets be herself and mines the R&B, soul, blues repertoire. I'd go see her. Wish I'd been able to see Aretha when she was young, and last night Fantasia reminded me of a mix between Aretha and Tina Turner.

Diana was very, very competent last night. Her confidence has continued to grow and she's solid now.

But once again, Jasmine just stumbled through her songs. I find her unbearable. The whole deal with Hawaii (my native state, dang it) voting in a different time period when lines are not jammed and the campaign there based on racial preference (yes, the Hawaiian congressman actually came out and asked folks to vote for Jasmine because she was Asian) just irks me.”
